Kalani sits on the couch before Max walks in. "Hey, where have you been?" She asks pausing the tv. "I had to help Klaus with something," Max says sitting down next to her. "Since when are you guys' besties?" Kalani asks resting her head on her knee.

"We're not. I'm just helping him," Max explains as Kalani nods before the front door opens revealing Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie. "What are you guys doing here?" Kalani asks as she sees a cake in Caroline's hands. "We're gonna celebrate your birthday silly," she says as Kalani gets up.

"It's not my birthday," she explains. "But you never got a party so we can have one now," Elena says as Kalani shrugs. "Sounds fun. I'm gonna get the gang and change," Kalani says as Max gets up too.

"I'll join you," he says before the two walk away. After telling the three to wait with Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena, Kalani and Max walk to her room. "Kal," Max says as she faces him. "Max," she says leaning against her door. "I have to go," he says as she frowns.

"What?" She questions. "Klaus needs me," he says as she nods. "Oh, that's fine," Kalani says before biting her top lip. "I can tell your upset. You only bite your lip in that weird way when you're upset," Max explains.

"It's fine. If you have to go you have to. You don't have to explain anything to me," Kalani explains as Max kisses her cheek. "Sorry," Max says before walking away. "Cool," Kalani says awkwardly before walking into her room.
