045. 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔

4x12 A View to a Kill

Kalani's eyes flutter open as she walks out of her room and into the kitchen. "Want some cereal?" A voice asks and Kalani faces them to see Alex standing in front of a cupboard holding two bowls. "Yeah," she says and hops onto the counter.

"Kalani," he says and she faces him. "Yes, Lex," she says giving him a smile. "You know you're the strongest person I know," he says as her smile fades away. "What are you going off about?" She asks leaning back. "You'll survive this like you've survived everything else," he says and she pulls him close to her. "No, no I can't. I can't survive without you," she says and he hugs her. "You will. I believe you are stronger than you think," Alex says and Kalani feels herself drift away from him.

She opens her eyes to see Max and Ginny looking down at her. "Come here," she says as they lay down with her.

Kalani sits on the couch picking at her dress. She just got home from Alex's funeral. They buried him in the Salvatore Crypt, that's where he belonged.

Max and Ginny walk out of their rooms both holding bags. "Where are you going?" She asks getting up. "We're visiting my aunt," Ginny says and Kalani nods. "You should join," Max suggests and Kalani shrugs. "I'm gonna stay here. Help with the Damon situation. Try to save Jeremy," Kalani explains.

"I doubt you'll be able to protect Jeremy if you couldn't protect Alex," Ginny speaks up. "That's unfair," Kalani says looking at the girl. "How is it unfair? You took him to the cabin," Ginny explains. "I tried to protect him-" Kalani says but Ginny cuts her off. "That's right. You tried and failed," Ginny explains.

"And you've just been acting like nothing happened. Like you don't even care," she adds. "Of course I care but I have to be there for you two. Cause if im not there for you every second of every minute you'll lose your shit," Kalani explains.

"You don't have to because we're not your kids. I know you can't have any but stop projecting that onto us," Ginny says and Kalani shrugs. "You know what? That's fine. Just leave," Kalani says and Max reaches for her hand but she pulls away. "Just leave!" She says and Ginny walks out of the house.

"Lani, I know this is hard on you-" Max says but Kalani cuts him off. "Are you deaf? I told you to leave," she says and he nods. "Fine," he says before walking out of the house.

Kalani lays on the Gilbert couch as she listens to Elena talk on the phone before the doorbell rings. "Is he here?" Kalani asks getting up. Matt leaves before Elena opens the door for Kol. "You can come in," Jeremy says and Kol walks in. "Oh you're here," he says giving Kalani a smile which she doesn't return.

Kol moves over to play a video game before he and Elena head to the kitchen to make a drink. "Do you want some?" Kol asks as Kalani moves to the kitchen. "Yeah," she says and he pours her a drink.

"Thanks," she says before Kol tells them about Silas. "Sounds spooky," Kalani says before Kol walks to the door and says bye to Kalani and Elena. "What now?" She asks heading into the kitchen.

"Kalani," Elena says as the girl faces her. "No, we're doing this," she says walking up to her sister. "We have to talk about this," Elena says. "No, we don't. Alex is dead and I just have to figure out how to go on with my life even if it hurts," Kalani explains before Jeremy walks in.

"You're buddy already left," Kalani says facing him before the doorbell rings. "That's Bonnie," Jeremy says and Kalani opens the door. "Back so soon," she says looking at Kol. "Your request from a truce has been denied," Kol says and Kalani slams the door shut in his face. "Run," she says before Jeremy runs up the stairs followed by Elena.

"Come on in," she says opening the door for Kol. "So bold to just let me in," he says and she walks away from him. "I'm a bold girl," Kalani says before an arrow flies into Kol's leg. "That looks painfully," Kalani says picking up one of Jeremy's guns and shooting him in the leg.

She runs up the stairs as he follows. "You know what hurts more. Getting your heart ripped out of your chest," she says before shooting him again. She runs into the bathroom before shutting the door behind her as Kol goes after Elena. She hears Elena scream before rushing out with a piece of wood. She rushes down to see Kol about to chop of Jeremy's arm.

Kalani pushes him back before sinking her teeth into his neck and biting off a piece of flesh as he screams. She stabs him in the gut before throwing him towards Jeremy who stakes him as fhe vampire starts burning. "Burn in hell," she says still chewing on his flesh.

Klaus comes in and starts threatening everyone before Bonnie drags him to the living room and locks him there. He screams at them and Kalani feels bad. "Kalani," Bonnie says and the girl faces her.

"Kol is dead and I don't feel better," Kalani says walking out of the house. "Why would you?" Bonnie questions. "I thought if I killed him, it would hurt less," Kalani explains and Kalani takes her hand. "But now Kol is gone and it didn't fix anything," Kalani says and Bonnie's grip on her hand tightens.

"Bonnie," a voice says as they turn to see Jeremy. "I'm gonna go on ahead," Kalani says before pulling her hand away and walking to her car.
