"The Fell cousins don't have a shot and Amber Bradley is only on the court so the pageant doesn't look like its founding families only—which of course it is." Caroline rambled to the Bennett sisters as they made their way through the corridor, they were heading to hall where Carol Lockwood was teaching the dance to all the court members, "So that leaves Elena which totally has the sympathy vote since her parents died. How can I compete with that?" She added with an exasperated sigh seemingly defeated.
"Very nice, very sensitive." Bonnie spoke up nodding her head lightly after sharing a glance with her sister.
"Yeah, really shows that big heart of your Care-bear." Brooklyn agreed with a faint grin, letting a small chuckle slip through when Caroline flashed them a sheepish smile.
"Oh I'm sorry, this must sound really unimportant. In light of everything." Caroline sighed looking between the two.
"It's okay, we get it, you want to win." Bonnie brushed off sending the blonde a small smile.
"Well, my grandmother was Miss Mystic and both of my aunts. My mom is the only one who didn't get the gene and I want this." Caroline stated making the chaos with smile, she could practically feel how much she craved that title, "I actually deserve this." She added as an after thought.
"Of course you do." Brooklyn agreed linking her arm with the blonde and smiling widely, "You've worked so hard for this and they'll notice everything that you've done." She reassured getting a thankful smile in return, "I'll be right there cheering you on when you get crowned." She added with a teasing tone.
The three girls walked into the room catching the attention of Elena who was there with Stefan.
"Bonnie." Elena stated in surprise as she made her way over with Stefan, "Hey." She greeted softly.
"Hey, how are you?" Stefan asked with a friendly smile.
Bonnie didn't offer a reply, she merely turned to Brooklyn a certain look flashing across her face which her sister returned with one of understanding. At her lack of reply Elena and Stefan share a look realising there was something wrong.
"I begged Bonnie to fill in for Matt, he had to work today." Caroline spoke up considering Bonnie hadn't said a word since the vampire came over.
"And I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch everyone do the dance of forbidden touches." Brooklyn added in a joking tone in an attempt to ease the awkward atmosphere.
"Bonnie, do you have a minute?" Elena asked focusing on Bonnie.
"We only have 30 minutes for rehearsal." Bonnie reflected shifting uncomfortably in her spot.
"Yeah, maybe some other time, huh, Lena?" Brooklyn cut in seeing her sister's discomfort.
"It'll only take a minute, please?" Elena directed to the older witch before facing the younger Bennett once more.
"You don't have to." Brooklyn murmured quietly to her sister who let out a soft sigh.
"It's okay Lyn." Bonnie assured with a smile, thinking it would probably be better to get this out of the way now rather than later.
