.The Return (Part 4).

Walking into the Living room of the Boarding house Damon pours himself a drink. Taking a small sip he turns to leave stopping short when he saw the familiar head of tight chocolate curls.

"Brooklyn?" Damon called out in confusion his steps faltering.

She chuckled coldly turning to face him with empty eyes and a dark smirk, "Guess again."

A chill ran Damon's spine, the moment she turned it was so clear to him it wasn't the witch he so deeply cared for.

"Brianna." Damon's blood ran cold as he spoke her name, it was as if the earth knew the light that was Brooklyn Bennett was somehow hidden behind the darkness of her past self, for the sky darkened and the temperature dropped causing a chill to settle around them.

"In the flesh..." Brianna smirked dragging her hand over the back of the couch, "well close enough." She shrugged grinning almost evilly at the vampire frozen opposite.

"How...is this possible?" Damon questioned slowly, his brows furrowed in something akin to horror a the sight of the warmth in Brooks eyes having been completely drained. It was wrong, like looking at her through shattered glass, a distorted mirage of the witch he knew, or a distorted reflection through a fun house mirror. Yes, it was her body but he could see it wasn't her. Like she was a puppet, being controlled by the dark shadow of her past self.

"This was my body once Damon. I've been stuck on the other side, waiting until the day my necklace got reunited with my reborn body and the person I became performed the spell to regain my memories." She explained simply, a part of her was always within Brooklyn, the darker parts of her magic that she continuously fought to subdue was really just Brianna trying to gain control herself, but she couldn't do that without coming in contact with her necklace and have her reborn self weak enough to slip out of consciousness, and if her life's essence hadn't been bound to that necklace she wouldn't have had access to the other side. Brianna also didnt take into account how strong Brooklyn Bennett's resolve would be.

"Don't bother trying to find it." The witch stated seeing the cogs in Damon's mind turning, his blue eyes scanning the witch in order to find what he was looking for, "The necklace isn't on me. Not anymore at least. I'm not stupid, Damon. But don't worry, it's in safe hands." She taunted with a harrowing smirk, the sight enough to make the vampires hair stand on end, she wasn't dumb enough to wear the one thing that'll be able to reclaim her body when she went to taunt the vampire, "My necklace, it's come in contact with this body Damon and my... or her magic could sense it that's how I was strong enough to get this far." She finished with a smirk she had been fighting for dominance over this form all this time, clinging onto the darkness she pushed away and having her necklace back along with weakening Brooks mind with the Gilbert device gave her that extra push to get a solid foothold within her mind, even if it would only be for a few minutes or so, "I have to give her credit she really put up a fight, I'm sure she will again when she tries to wake up." She added with a dark chuckle moving around the couch and stalking closer to Damon.
