Lyla winced as her house elf tightened the corset.

Great! She thought bitterly.

My father is making me hate one of the things that I actually like to wear.

"I'm done Miss Vance." Her house elf, Kelpy squeaked.

"Thank you Kelpy, that would be enough." Lyla said while walking over to her vanity.

Her house elf jumped off the chair and followed her hurriedly.

"Oh, but Miss Vance. You're father insisted that I help you get ready." Kelpy said rapidly and with wide eyes as she looked at Lyla.

Lyla sighed as she stared at the house elf.

"Okay you can help me-"

The house elf sighed in relief.

"By... sitting here and doing absolutely nothing."

"But-" Kelpy squeaked.

"No buts Kelpy, I don't want you to work harder than you already have been." Lyla said sternly.

The house elf sighed in defeat and dropped to the floor and sat with her legs crisscrossed.

Lyla smiled triumphantly before going over to her closet to pick out a dress.

She didn't want to be to extravagant. She was just having dinner with Sirius, Regulus, and their cousins.

She chose the dark green satin dress, that had spaghetti straps, and fell just above her knees.

Kelpy watched as Lyla slipped on the dress and struggled slightly to zip up the dress.

"Need help miss?" Kelpy asked from where she was seated.

"Nope." Lyla said, still struggling.

Kelpy watched her struggle before Lyla finally managed to zip it up.

"Ha!" Lyla said with a smirk towards Kelpy.

Lyla then quickly did her makeup and took her hair out from the clip.

It fell into loose waves and then Kelpy came over and put a gold leaf clip into her hair.

"Kelpy I thought I said-"

"Shh, it was your mother's Lyla."

Lyla blinked away tears and a sad smile came across her features.

"There, all done." Kelpy said softly.

Lyla smiled at the house elf gratefully.

"Now, I'm going to go make sure Capella doesn't need anything." And with that the house elf dissaparated.

Lyla stared at her reflection and took a deep breath.

She knew at any moment her father would call her and her sister down for dinner.

Lyla fiddled with the crystal ring on her finger and pursed her lips together.

"LYRA!"

"CAPELLA!"

Lyla flinched slightly at the sound of her father's voice.

She then took one final breath and exited her room.

She walked down the stairs to her dining room.
And right before she entered she straightened out her posture and put on a fake smile.

"Ah! There she is." Aleksander said with a smile.

Lyla walked in front of him as he put his arms on her shoulders.

"Cygnus, Druella, I don't believe you've met my daughter yet."
