People on the Octopod, based on their species, have certain health problems.

It's a lot for Peso to keep track of, what medications he can give who ( A medication that can help a cat might be deadly to penguins), who's species has the greater risk for what disease, etc.

Peso requires a personalized check-up plan for everyone based on age and medical history. This meant that Inkling had to get a checkup about once every week to check him over for old people issues.

Every species has their... limitations when it comes to certain things, and Peso gives them no slack at all. The captain isn't allowed to go anywhere that's above 70 degrees unless Peso is COMPLETELY sure he won't overheat. Chocolate isn't allowed on the Octopod since so many species...you know.

The species of animals that are in the Octonauts can tolerate chocolate better then their real life counterparts, but still, they're limited.

Peso gives the kids health classes to make sure everyone is educated on what their species can and cannot do.

When he told the kids that cats have a lower tolerance to foods than any other species, Jane asked him,
"Hang on, how do people know this? Do they feed a dog and a cat chocolate and see who dies first?" and Peso was horrified. He said,
"Of course not, that's silly!" But inside he was thinking, "She did not just say what I thought she said."

Peso is terrified of giving the Vegimals any medications because he isn't completely sure what their species can and cannot take.

The Vegimals species are pretty tough, they faint all the time with no repercussions.

Shellington is allergic to a LOT of stuff. A LOT.

The Vegimals are like tiny little mother hens to Shellington, they even have a list of what "Shellydo" can't eat, so they won't give it to him on accident.

Some health problems can't be helped in any way if they start, and they always scare Peso to know that there's physically nothing he can do about it but wait and see what happens. Dashi and her sisters are all symptomatic carriers of hemophilia, a genetic problem in which someone bleeds more than normal.

There's no completely dependable cure for hemophilia, all you can do if someone with hemophilia starts bleeding is wait and see what happens.

It terrifies him when he sees them bleed just the slightest bit. He nearly has a heart attack since someone (guess who) has a habit of climbing up to high places, seems to TRY to scratch themselves up as much as possible, and practically bounces off of the walls.

Tweak has some digestive issues, which is why she eats carrots so much: because they're easier for her stomach to handle, but whenever she eats something she can't handle, Peso insists that she call him, even if it's the middle of the night, even when it's at the worst possible time, he'll try all he can to make her feel better, even getting in bed with her and rubbing her tummy to help her fall asleep.
