Everyone on the Octopod "adopted" everyone else as their sibling, parent, and/or child.
The Vegimals and Peso are the babies, and everyone loves them, no questions asked.
Whenever Peso needs anything from anyone, all the adults rush to help him, and you can commonly see Peso reaching for something just out of his reach at dinnertime, and then Inkling grabs the dish, and serves him a HUMONGOUS portion of it.
At the same time, Peso is like the mother of everyone, constantly keeping everyone else in line, and taking care of everyone.
Example of a "normal" sick day, Inkling has a fever, some of the Vegimals have a cough and are clinging to him cos Peso's the only one who can make them better, and he's gotta patch up Kwazii and Tweak cos they got into a pretty destructive fight with each other.
There's a thing where if you lay your head in a toddler's lap, they'll pull away. Whenever someone laid their head in a Vegimal's lap, they would act like your head's the best thing to ever touch their lap. They'll cuddle it, kiss it, and stroke it like it's their baby.
They're too trusting and easygoing for their own good. Once when the kids suggested that they should wrap the Vegimals in toilet paper, the Vegimals thought it would be "fun". The adults were wondering why on earth there was toilet paper all over the floor, and there were tiny mummies running around the place.
