Everyone on the Octopod is extremely loyal to one another, and will always stick up for someone.
Pirates are very... "old-fashioned" when it comes to loyalty to a captain. Kwazii is extremely loyal to Captain Barnacles, and it shows. He once challenged another pirate to a duel after they called Captain Barnacles a "holier-than-thou do-gooder."
He won, obviously.
The captain is practically a big fluffy teddy bear to everyone he meets, but if you DARE insult or hurt his crew, especially Peso, he will destroy you.
The Vegimals will always be Shellington's kids, SHELLINGTON'S. I headcanon that if the Vegimals parents came for them, they'd cry if they had to leave "Shellydo". Shellington's heart would break cos he'd see his babies sad, and he'd probably start crying for his babies.
No matter how messy, how destructive, how crazy everyone on the Octopod is, Peso will offer each and everyone of them comfort, medical care, and support when they need it. If one of them got shot with a bullet, and it wasn't safe to stay with them, Peso still would stay since he loves them so much.
Jane has been called "Tweak's, through and through." Tweak knows that Jane absolutely hates the idea of "belonging" to anyone, so Tweak always sticks up for her, saying
"You don't know the little hellhound, I'm lucky that she loves me; she's no one's but her own."
