Now here is where the party was!

Was I a little naive not knowing what the Association of Black Collegians was? Maybe. But once I found out, I knew I found my place.

I even came on time to their seven p.m. meeting in the Campus Union. Progress people, that's all I ask. I coaxed Allura to attend, even asked Twyla. Agreeably, Twyla said she would sit it out, did not think the organization was for her. Allura and I also knocked on Donnell and Richmond's door and they tagged along.

So I had my little fifth-floor crew and I was kind of shocked by the turnout at the meeting. I believe every Black student that attended Mizzou was stuffed in that meeting room that may be held two hundred. Okay, slight exaggeration, but it was packed.

To my surprise, Mr. Perfect stood up front as one of the officers of ABC. I smiled and waved at him. He gave me a head nod.

"Holy shit, I wanta fuck him," Allura said.

"Excuse me?"

"And his sister."

Well, she wasn't going to leave anyone for me? I had to discuss with my roommate that I had dibs on Mr. Perfect. She could have anyone else she wanted, the world was her buffet. The one guy I like, she also wants?

"Hey fresh."

His perfect locs were pulled back in a ponytail. He had a nose piercing that was hot and an eyebrow piercing. He wore a T-shirt and I could see tattoos on both arms. We were grabbing seats when Hottie Tottie from English class all but pushed Allura to the side to sit next to me.

"Excuse you!" Allura had a salty attitude now, and I better tread lightly.

"I'm sorry, what was your name again?" I asked.

"Yo, that hurt my feelings that you don't remember my name when I just met you yesterday and told you." He grabs my phone and starts typing in it. "Imma save my info in here for you, fresh."

He gave me my phone back and I looked at what he entered. King Williams with a heart next to it and his number.

"Why do you keep calling me a freshman, aren't you a freshman as well? You're in English 101."

"See, actually, "the man" made the system of these classes, when we should take it and why, but I believe in free will. My will is I take the class when I feel it calls me. It didn't call me last year, so I, a sophomore, am taking a class that I am more intellectually ready for."

Whoa! Okay, he liked to talk a lot, probably just to hear himself talk. Pretty face, I wondered what more there was to him.

"So you know all about the ABC meetings? What are they like?"

"I guess you're about to find out, fresh."

The meeting was about to start and I focused my attention on Mr. Perfect and how good he looked sitting up front. So now I knew he was hot, pretty smart, good head on his shoulder serving as RA, and now he was all about business in a leadership role. What could the boy not do?

Then Gay rushed in, stopping in front of the front table.

"Yo! I'm here, I'm here! We can get started now." She had a big smile on her face and turned to Mr. Perfect. "Aye yo, everyone, that's my big brother right there."

So Gay liked to make an entrance as well. I had to note that for later. Gay looked around, saw no empty chairs, then came over to where I sat.

"Scootch"

Scootch? Was that even a word? I slid over a bit in my chair and she sat her slim body next to me. She leaned over and smiled at King.

"Heeey!"
