33. Gifts

3rd Person Omniscient POV

Late the next morning, Dream wakes up to the sound of the birds chirping. He looks beside him but Y/N isn't there. A small note scrawled in her handwriting is.

I went downstairs early to check on breakfast. Get dressed and come quickly you idiot :) <3

Dream laughs and gets out of bed, taking a quick shower and brushing his teeth. He pulls on a green hoodie, ripped jeans, socks, and armor boots. Strapping the armor and belt around himself, fastening the cloak around him, and placing on his mask, he heads downstairs.

Everyone else is already at the table except for
Y/N and Bad who is on prison duty, Dream sits down and they all proceed to take food and start eating.

"Where's Y/N?" Dream asks Sapnap.

"Not sure," he replies through a mouthful of bacon. "Think she went to the village."

Dream nods and quickly finishes breakfast. He heads down to the village waving at the citizens as he passes.

He reaches the kingdom gate when he finds Y/N walking in.

"Y/N!" he says, running to hug her.

What was she doing outside the kingdom?

"Dream!" she says returning the hug but her mind trails off.

Does he suspect me? Oh god. I should have been back for breakfast.

1 Hour Ago

"Ugh why can't I do it?"

"You'll get it eventually," DreamXD says reassuringly.

She had built a shrine into a tree in order to summon him and it worked. He was overseeing her training in learning how to control the 4 elements; Earth, Water, Fire, and Air,

She had Water and Air down but Fire and Earth were giving her trouble.

"I didn't have this much trouble with the other two elements, why am I not able to do it?"

"You're a calm, nurturing person. Water is the element of change and Air is freedom. They're not very destructive elements. Fire and Earth tend to more destructive and since you don't have a desire to destroy, they don't come as naturally to you," Dream XD explains.

"Well it's getting late," she says. "I need to go back to the castle before Dream realizes that I'm gone for too long."

"Alright," Dream XD says. "Just remember, don't tell him about the spell book. He'll try to use it in a dangerous way."

"I will."

Present

"Y/N?" Dream asks, watching his girlfriend stare off into space for a bit.

"Uhm yeah? Sorry I zoned out for a bit."

"I asked why you were out of the kingdom."

"I went to practice archery away from people. Hoping I would catch something but I didn't," she lies.

"I want you to stay in the kingdom. To keep you safe."

Y/N sighs.

"Dream, I can take care of myself. I'm capable of more than you think."

"I know," he wraps his arm around her. "But I don't want to lose you."

"You," she says giving him a playful shove.

"Did anything interesting happen at breakfast today?"

"Nothing much" Dream says while they walk back to the castle.
