Ruv -
I hate this so much.
Before you know it, I was already sitting down in front of the two larges cakes, with at least ten candles lit on each. I grunt at the hint of embarrassment that squirmed in my stomach. Were birthday songs supposed to feel like this?
"Everyone by the table! I have to get a picture of this!" Sarv announced, taking out her phone. All the guests hustled into place. (Your Name) stands beside me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Enjoying yourself?" they smirk.
"No," I frown.
"Say cheese!"
A flash from the phone blinded me. Everyone spreads apart around the table, taking out their own phones.
"Get ready to sing on three!" calls out Sarv.
I grip the sleeves of my jacket.
"One... two... three!"
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Ruv! Happy birthday to you!"
I have never been this embarrassed in my life. My face felt like it was on fire. Suddenly, (Your Name) nudges my arm.
"Blow out your candles," they whisper.
Snapping out of the trance, I quickly blow out the flame from the waxy sticks. A cheer erupted from the crowd.
"See? That wasn't so bad, was it?" Sarv grins.
"I hated every second of it," I mutter.
"Whatever, you big baby," Sarv rolls her eyes. "Let's cut the cake!"
Everyone gathers around the nun as she starts slicing the marble cake first. The guests gasped and awed at the sight, ready to devour it whole.
Once the slices were distributed, she started on the spicy cake. As the knife penetrated the cake, its fumes tingled around my face, but I ignored it, unable to keep my excitement of finally being able to eat after these long, tough, and confusing hours.
(Your Name) grimaces around the fumes. Using an arm, I push them father from the cake.
"Careful," I remark.
"I know, I know," they sigh. "I'm just curious on what is in the inside."
Sarv finally pulls the slice out of the rest of the cake, a loud sizzling sound echoing through the church as if it was a freshly grilled steak.
"Mortals, stay back," Sarv slides a plate to me with a grin. "Enjoy it!"
I swiftly take the plate, taking a forkful of the delicacy. Its pasty texture mesmerized me.
"You're eating all of that?" (Your Name) gasps, eyeing the slice. They fan a fume away from their face.
"Mhm. The stuff's good." I put the forkful into my mouth. The cake began to sizzle like pop rock candy. It was anything but spicy. I guess my tongue became numb from eating it too often.
As I continued to eat the slice, the cherry midget comes up to me, staring at the red dessert with extreme curiosity.
"Surely it wouldn't hurt if I had a slice, right?" (Girlfriend) mutters, still looking at the slice.
"You're immortal, right? Go for it," I shrug, putting another piece into my mouth.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" (Your Name) asks (Girlfriend). The demon nods in response.
