Trevor needed a summer job. So, he applied at NASA.

Now he works at a cashier in their gift shop.

He doesn't mind it. It's a fairly easy job. He gets paid well and not too many people come around.

Today the museum part was closed which meant the gift shop was closed but Trevor still had to show up to clean and restock all the stuff they were getting in.

He was on his lunch break and spent it messing around while he ate.

He was spinning in his chair when someone cleared their throat.

Trevor froze and looked up. Y/n stood in a lab coat and glasses. She was an intern at their mechanical engineering camp.

"Hello." Trevor stood up and brushed his uniform off.

"Hi." Y/n smiled. He looked around and pointed towards the exit. "If you go out there then-"

"No... I know where the labs are." She laughed.

"Oh..." Trevor put his arm down and looked around again. "Then why are you here?"

"I wanted to ask for your number." She pulled out her phone and Trevor's eyes widened.

"Me? Like... Like my number? Yeah- Ok ok." He took the phone and put in his number, handing it back to her.

"Ok... I'll text you... Trevor."

He nodded and watched in awe as the girl walked away.

.  .  .

Trevor waited by the labs and grabbed the door as he saw Y/n coming. She hurried outside and hugged him tightly, kissing his face.

Trevor gave her a kiss back then turned to start walking with her to the cafeteria.

She talked about smart shit he had 0 clue about. He could tell you how a proton pack worked but organic chemistry? Hell no.

She just knew those things.

"Jesus, Y/n/n you're like some kinda genius." He sighed.

She shook her head, giggling as Trevor pulled her closer.

"I just study... That's all."

Trevor didn't believe her but knew she was too humble and this conversation wouldn't lead anywhere. They walked into the cafeteria and picked up trays.

"I want some of that meatloaf." Trevor whispered.

Y/n laughed and he looked down at her. She was so precious. Y/n grabbed her food, Trevor got his meatloaf, then they sat down at a table.

Trevor and Y/n have been dating for a couple of weeks. He feels a little... Anxious about it. Like he isn't sure he's actually good enough, but Y/n adores him.

Another boy their age in a lab coat and his friend sat by Y/n and Trevor.

"Hi Y/n." The blonde flirted.

"Hi James. Hi Ben."

"What's the gift shop boy doing here?" James teased.

Ben hit Trevor's back making Trevor clenched his jaw in annoyance. "Trevor and I are dating." Y/n said casually.

"You. And him?" James and Ben looked at each other before laughing obnoxiously. Y/n rolled her eyes and grabbed Trevor's hand.

"Just shut up. Leave us alone." She pleaded.

"Who knew? You've got the prodigy child- and the keychain stocker!" They continued laughing and Trevor looked down at his tray, he wasn't hungry anymore.

"I'm gonna go." Trevor muttered.

"No, no, no, don't." Y/n pleaded.

"Y/n let him go... I think the space edition Barbies are running low up there!"

Trevor dumped his tray and rushed out of the dining hall, his entire face red with anger and embarrassment. He wanted to disappear.

Y/n looked back at him and got up, running after him.

Trevor barged into the gift shop and hid in the back, starting his inventory to take his mind off it.

"Trevor." Y/n opened the door and he rubbed his nose. "You can't be back here. How'd you even... You need a special key card to come in here."

"I have higher clearance than you-"

"No fucking shit. Fucking prodigy child."

Y/n shut her mouth and Trevor stopped what he was doing. "I... Wanted to be that smart. I applied. But I didn't get in so I settled for the next best thing." He motioned to the room and Y/n's expression dropped.

"Trevor... They're idiots. Really, they are." Y/n comforted.

Trevor shrugged and bit his tongue.

"You're smart to me." She whispered.

Trevor looked up at her annoyed and she nodded. "You are! Trev I watch you do fucking the quickest math I've seen in years every day."

Trevor shrugged, standing up and looking down at her.

He wanted that lab coat.

That badge.

He wanted that appreciation.

"Trevor... You fight fucking ghosts. That's crazy. None of us in these stupid ass lab coats could do that. And you're hot! You're so hot, Trevor."

He laughed a little and Y/n wrapped her arms around his waist.

"I don't care what they say, Trev. You're smart to me. You're worth it to me. You're handsome to me. Ok?"

Trevor nodded, leaning down to kiss her head.

"Your lunch is over." Trevor mumbled into her hair after. Y/n looked at her phone and gasped, kissing his cheek and running out of the room.

Trevor sat down, looking at all the boxes of items he had to scan.

He doesn't mind doing this shit because it means he got to meet Y/n and she's so goddamn perfect.
