Forever and Always

Chapter 18

"Y/n, meet Koda, our new puppy." I smiled widely as she turned around with a shocked look on her face. "I talked to May and she agreed that a puppy could do us all some good."

She broke away from all of the puppy kisses and jumped up, flinging her arms around me and pulling me into a tight embrace.

"Thank you!" She exclaimed.

Koda ran over and pawed at my pant leg. I laughed slightly and picked him up. He licked my face and Y/n pet his head.

"He's all good to go. Just stop by the front desk to grab his papers." The vet informed with a warm smile.

I nodded and returned the smile before handing Koda to Y/n and following her out of the room. We walked over to the front desk and got Koda's papers which held his records and all that before walking out of the building and getting into the car.

Y/n held Koda in her lap as we drove to the nearest pet store to get the supplies needed to care for a puppy. She rolled the window down half way and Koda stuck his head out of the window, his tongue instantly hanging out of his mouth.

We pulled into the parking lot of the pet store and got out. Y/n held Koda in her arms until we were inside the building and it was safe to put him down. We walked to the dog section and Y/n handed him to me while she picked out a leash and collar.

She grabbed a blue collar that matched the color of his eyes and a standard black leash. We put them into the cart and moved onto the beds. We picked out a round black bed which was fluffy and would be big enough for him for a while. Next up, was the food and water bowls, puppy food, and treats. We picked out some cute little food and water bowls that were red with little bones on them and placed them in the cart along with the food and treats. Next, was the toys.

"Aww look at the hot dog costume!" Y/n exclaimed.

"Y/n, I don't think he's going to want to wear that." I laughed.

"Fine. What about these ones?"

She held up a few toys and I nodded as she placed them in the cart.

"We should probably get a few more as well." I spoke.

She nodded and picked up some rediculous toy. I laughed and shook my head no, picking up a different toy and showing her. She smiled and shook her head. We "argued" over what toys to get, only actually agreeing on one of them, until Koda interupted with a bark.

"Why don't we let him choose?" I suggested and Y/n agreed.

I sat him down and he ran around Y/n and I, running over to a little stuffed moose toy. He bit it and pulled it off the shelf before running back over to Y/n and dropping it at her feet.

"This one?" Y/n asked, picking up the toy.

Koda barked and I laughed.

"Moose toy it is." I took the toy from Y/n and tried to place it in the cart but Koda stopped me by barking again. "What, you want it?" I asked.

He barked again and I crouched down, holding out the toy. He came over and took the toy in his mouth and followed Y/n out of the aisle. We got a tag that had his name and our phone numbers on it before going to check out.

As soon as we were done paying for everything, Y/n put Koda's collar around his neck and attached the name tag to it as well. She hooked on his leash and we walked out of the building and back to the car.

I loaded the items we had bought into the car as Y/n got into the passenger's seat with Koda. I followed soon after and got into the driver's seat before pulling out of the parking lot and back onto the road.

We arrived back at the apartment around twenty minutes later and we got out of the car. Y/n took a few bags and Koda upstairs while I unloaded the rest of the items and walked up with her. I unlocked the door and let Y/n and Koda go in first before I walked in.

May was already home and got up from where she was sitting on the couch to help us out. Koda barked and ran over to her, sniffing her leg as she bent down to pet him. She scratched behind his ears and he rolled over onto his back, signalling for her to scratch his stomach. She continued to pet Koda as Y/n and I arranged the items to where they would be going.

Y/n flopped down on the floor and Koda came over and licked her face. She laughed and turned her face away from the attack of kisses.

"Koda!" She laughed. "Peter, help me! I'm being attacked!" 

I smiled widely before grabbing Koda's toy moose and tossing it towards him. He caught it in his mouth and shook his head around with it, flinging it around. He dropped it between Y/n and I and sat down.

I pet his head and played around with him before standing up and he chased after me. Y/n's laughter filled the room as she stood up.

"Get him, Koda!" She yelled.

She ran after me and jumped on top of me, tackling me to the ground as Koda ran over and pawed me in the face. She continued to lay down on my back as he started licking me. She laughed and laid her head down on my back before playing with my hair.

"How long are you going to lay on top of me?" I asked, my voice being muffled by the floor.

"Not sure yet." She responded.

I could feel a smile stretch across her face as she snuggled her head into my shirt. Koda stopped licking me and laid down on my arm, going to sleep with his stuffed moose toy underneath his head.
