Instead, it was the exact opposite. Well, it started the same as I had hoped...

By the time we got home from the park, May was already home from work. Y/n went to May's room to get ready and I stayed back with May and Koda.

"May, I need your help." I stated, hurrily walking into the kitchen with a desperate look on my face.

"What's up, Pete?" She asked.

"I asked Y/n out and I kinda need you to watch Koda for me tonight." I gave her a pleading smile.

"Of course! Where are you guys going?"

"I was thinking about just going and seeign a movie with her."

She nodded with a warm smile. "Are you going to kiss her?"

"May!" I exclaimed, a blush rising to my cheeks.

She laughed and pushed me into my room to get ready while she helped arrange the plans for mine and Y/n's date.

I pulled on a black t-shirt and a light blue button up shirt with a pair of jeans and a pair of backed out Converse. I went into the bathroom and messed around with my hair, running my fingers through it and trying different styles with gel. It all looked terrible. I ended up just returning it to the way that it was before grabbing a bottle of cologne from the bathroom cabinent. I sprayed it in front of me and sniffed before showing a look of disgust and deciding against using it.

May knocked on the bathroom door and I opened it.

"It's almost seven." She informed.

I nodded and fixed my hair again before leaving the bathroom and meeting May in the living room.

"I was thinking, what if you guys went to a drive in?" She suggested.

"That sounds good. How far away is it?" I asked.

"About twenty minutes. The first showtime of the movie is at eight so you would have some time before it started. You should probably take my car though."

I nodded as Y/n walked out of May's room, a smile on her face as she approached us. She was wearing a white t-shirt with a pair of black ripped jeans and classic black Converse shoes. She had her hair loosely curled and she had on a light, nude color eyeshadow.

Wow. She looks amazing.

"You look gorgeous, Y/n." May complimented, winking at me as she left the room.

Y/n blushed, her smile growing wider as she walked up to me.

"Y-You look really pretty." I stuttered.

"You're not too bad yourself, Parker." She laughed.

I grabbed May's keys off the counter as Y/n told Koda goodbye. I held out my arm and she hooked her hand into the crook of my arm as we walked out of the apartment and out to the car. I opened the door for her and she got in. I made my way over to my side of the car, getting in and placing the keys in the ignition before driving off.

We were about ten minutes into the ride when we got stuck at a red light. I turned up the stereo as we waited for the light to change to green. Once it did, I put my foot back onto the gas pedal pressed it down slowly.

Something doesn't feel right.

I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. My senses were going ballistic, telling me to go faster. To get past this light or something bad is going to happen. My senses have never been wrong before so I decided to listen to them. But as soon as I pressed the pedal down farther, blinding lights blasted through Y/n's window. My senses were going crazier now as the lights rapidly came closer.

"Y/n!" I yelled, putting my arm out in front of her and trying my best to protect her.

The truck slammed into her side of the car, flipping us over. For what seemed like hours, the car continued to flip and roll until it finally stopped, landing upside-down in the middle of the road. The last thing I heard as the world went black, was the screaching of tires and the low rumble of the truck's engine as it drove off into the distance, leaving behind the mess it made.

...

I had no idea how long it was before the ambulances showed up. My head was pounding. My blurred vision started to clear as I looked around at my surroundings. I could feel the blood slipping down from the large gash on my forehead. I could hear the faint blaring of sirens as I groaned and coughed, trying to refill my lungs with air.

I tried to move and see if Y/n was okay, but I couldn't. My arm was pinned between the headrest of my seat and the roof of the car, my hand being bent in ways hands shouldn't be able to bend. I could feel the glass shards cutting into my skin as I tried to get my arm free.

I turned my head slightly over to look at Y/n. She was unconscious. There was a fairly large gash across her cheekbone and a smaller one just above her temple. Her arms were cut up, similarly to mine, and dripping with blood. The worst of the injuries left me trying harder to get out of my seat and over to help her; a large piece of glass was lodged into her abdomen and the bone was sticking out from her leg.

"Y/n!" I croaked out, tears streaming down my face.

I would be fine eventually with my super healing. Y/n, on the other hand, didn't have that ability, her injuries could easily be fatal and who knows what is happening inside her body that isn't visible on the oustide.

The sirens grew louder as red and blue lights flashed through the broken windows of May's car. My seatbelt was being fumbled with within seconds of the sirens stopping.

"Sir, can you hear me?" A paramedic asked.

"No! No! Help her first! I'm fine!" I tried shouting, but my frantic voice was just above a whisper.

"Sir, your girlfriend is okay. She's already on the stretcher, being wheeled into the ambulance." The paramedic informed as he continued to try to remove my seatbelt.

"My arm is stuck, I can't get it free." I winced and the man removed his hands.

The car shifted slightly as my door was removed and my arm was freed from the car's grasp. Within seconds, I was being pulled from the vehicle and placed onto a stretcher. A oxygen mask was attempted to be placed over my mouth and nose but I pushed it away.

"Where's Y/n? Is she okay?" I asked frantically.

"Sir, calm down. She's in the other ambulance." A female voice reassured.

"I'll calm down when I know she is okay and safe!" I growled, attempting to sit up.

Two firm hands were placed on my torn shirt, gently pushing me back down. I felt the ambulace shake and start to drive off as the oxygen mask was placed over my mouth again, instantly making me calm down and relax.

"I...I can't...I can't let her die the...the same way her dad did." I breathed out, my eyes becoming heavy.

"Sir, try to stay awake." One of the paramedics spoke.

I tried my best to keep my eyes open, but it was no use. My eyes shut and I lost consciousness once again.
