(y/f/f) = your favorite flower

...

I tossed our bags onto the bottom bunk of the bed and Y/n flopped down into the chair in front of my desk. I faceplanted onto my bed and stretched my arms out. Well, as best I could with a cast going past my elbow.

I could hear Y/n's laughter from behind me. I lifted my head up slightly and looked towards her.

"What are you laughing at?" I asked.

"You...You look like one of those...those chalk outlines at crime scenes with your cast...and the way your arm is positioned." She laughed, gasping for breath in between words.

I blindly tossed my pillow at her. It completely missed her body by about a foot and a half, knocking a few things off my desk in the process, making them tumble to the ground with a thud. I jumped up and turned my gaze to the fallen items. Y/n was laughing harder now and practically crying of laughter.

"Everything okay in there?" May yelled from the kitchen.

"Yeah!" I shouted back, stifling a laugh. "Why is this so funny to you?"

"I-I...don't know." Y/n responded, gasping for breath again.

I let out the laugh I was holding in and stood up from where I was sitting on the bed, walking over to my desk and picking up the items which were knocked off and the pillow, sitting them in their designated areas. After a few minutes, Y/n calmed down from her laughing fit and we talked for a while.

Y/n stood up from where she was sitting and laid down next to me on the bed, resting her head on my chest and wrapping her arms around my torso. I wrapped my non-casted arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head as we sat in a comfortable silence.

"I was thinking..." I started.

Y/n looked up to me in response.

"Do you maybe wanna try for a redo on our date?" I asked.

"Of course!" She exclaimed, a smile on her face.

"Okay, wear something comfortable. I'll set everything up and pick you up around 6pm tonight."

"Sounds like a date."

"Sounds like a date." I smiled brightly.

Y/n leaned up and pressed her lips gently to mine before nestling her head into the crook of my neck and running her fingers through my hair.

At some point Y/n fell asleep in my arms. After about an hour, I looked at the time.

3:18 pm

I sat my phone down and sighed.

I would love to keep laying here with her but I need to get everything ready for tonight.

I looked to Y/n and gently shook her awake.

Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me.

She let out a sleepy groan and removed her hands from my hair, resting both of them onto my chest and cuddling closer to my body.

"Y/n, I gotta get up and get our date set up." I whispered.

"Noooo, you're so warm!" She mumbled, tightening her hold on my torso.

I sighed and waited a minute, letting Y/n stay on my chest for a bit longer before deciding to actually get up this time.

"Y/n..." I started.

"Noooo!" She whined.

"I have to get up. I'm sorry."

I gently slid out from under her and wiggled out of her grasp, standing up and grabbing my phone from the nightstand beside the bed. Y/n snuggled into the pillow and pulled the blankets up to her shoulders. I smiled and walked over to her, sitting on the edge of the bed and placing my hand on her arm.

"Will you be okay here for a bit?" I asked.

"Yeah." She responded.

"Are you sure? I can stay here. Maybe I should." I started to ramble.

"I'll be fine, Peter." She laughed.

"Okay. May will be here while I'm gone so if you need anything-"

"Peter, go. I'll be fine. I'll see you later."

I sighed and leaned down, kissing her forehead before standing up and walking out of the room. I grabbed my keys off the kitchen counter and told May I would be back in an hour or so. I walked out of the apartment and started to walk down the sidewalk, going to the grocery store to buy the necessities for mine and Y/n's date.

Yeah, I could have taken my car, but I'm not entirely sure I'm up for that right now. I'm still trying to get over the accident and I don't think I'm ready to drive again just yet.

I arrived at the grocery store not too long after I started walking. I walked through the doors and entered the store, grabbing a cart and starting to look for what I needed.

I grabbed some snacks and drinks before heading off to a different section of the store. Next, I grabbed a box of warm colored hanging string lights. After that, I grabbed a soft blanket and some other little things to add to the scenery. Last up, was the flowers.

I walked over to the section of the store which held the bouquets of flowers, and searched the display for Y/n's favorite. When there was none, I walked up to one of the workers.

"Hi, uhh I'm Peter. I'm picking up flowers for someone and I really wanted to get her a bouquet of her favorite flowers and I didn't see any on the display over there. Do you by any chance have any (y/f/f) in the back?" I asked awkwardly.

"Let me check." She smiled and walked away.

She came back a few minutes later with a bouquet of flowers in her hand.

"Will these work?" She asked.

"Yes, thank you so much!" I exclaimed, taking the flowers from her hands.

"No problem, good luck!"

I smiled at her and walked away, pushing the cart over to one of the checkout lines and paying for my items. I took the bags out of the cart and put the cart back before walking out of the store and starting my journey back to the apartment.
