(The ring above comes into play later in this chapter)

I stepped back and slammed my foot into the door beneath the doorknob. The door swung open and closed quickly. I pushed it open and looked inside.

I went pale.

My breathing quickened and I started shaking as tears started to fall down my face.

Y/n was laying on the floor, unconscious with a bloody knife laying beside her hand. Her wrists had two extremely deep cuts on them and were covered in blood, as was the floor around them.

I ran over to her side and crouched down next to her. I shakily placed my hand on the side of her face.

"Oh my god, Y/n." I whispered, my voice shaky and weak.

I checked her pulse.

Nothing.

I let out a choked sob and brought my hand up to my mouth.

"Y/n...p-please, wake up."

I fumbled to grab my phone out of my pocket. I steadied my hands enough to click on May's number. She picked up after the first ring.

"Peter? Everything okay?" She asked

I let out a shaky breath.

"Peter, what's wrong?"

"May, I need you. Y/n...she...there's so much blood...she doesn't have a pulse...May." I choked out.

"Oh god. Did you call 911?"

I shook my head, forgetting she couldn't see me.

"Peter, did you call 911?" She asked again, this time her voice sterner.

"No, not yet."

"Hang up and call them. I'm on my way."

"...Okay."

May hung up and I removed my phone from by my ear. I dialed 911 and placed the phone back up to my ear.

"911 what's your emergency?"

I don't even remember the full conversation between me and the 911 operator. All I remember was telling them my address and the operator saying to stay on the line until the paramedics arrived.

It wasn't too long before they arrived. Red and blue lights flashed through the windows of the apartment as they broke the front door down. They pushed me out of the bathroom as they did their thing.

Tears were streaming down my face the entire time I stood there. One of the paramedics let out a sigh.

No.

"Time of death: 11:04 pm."

No. No. No.

My heart shattered.

No!

I backed against the wall, sliding down it as the paramedics wheeled Y/n out of the bathroom on a stretcher.

"Peter?!" May called, rushing into the room as they pushed Y/n out.

I didn't answer. I just stared at the spot where Y/n was laying just seconds ago.

"Peter?!" Happy's voice called seconds after May's.

They both ran over to me. I kept looking straight forward, silent tears slipping down my face.

"She's gone...I couldn't help her...I couldn't save her." I looked up to May. "I promised her I would protect her...and I didn't."

May had tears in her eyes as well. She crouched down beside me and pulled my head to her chest. I let out a sob and wrapped my arms around her.

"Don't start blaming yourself for this, Peter. It's not your fault." Happy spoke.

"It's not Y/n's fault either." I muttered.

...

I went through my room and Y/n's things. Just reliving old memories. I was going through her bookbag when I came across her sketchbook. I let out a sigh before opening it and flipping through the pages.

There was one of MJ, Ned, Y/n, and I all at the mall.

One of me in the Hello Kitty pajamas giving Y/n a bitchface which was drawn as a cartoon type character.

One of Y/n kissing my cheek with little hearts drawn around us.

And her final one being a bunch of graduation caps thrown up in the air.

Along with several other little drawings on other pages.

I smiled sadly at the drawings, tears pooling in my eyes and threatening to fall at any given moment. I closed the sketchbook and placed it safely on my desk before grabbing something out of one of the drawers and sitting down on the floor.

I opened the black velvet box and took out the contents.

Koda came up to me and laid his head in my lap, whimpering slightly.

"I know, buddy. I miss her too." I spoke, petting his head as I fiddled with the ring in my hand.

I stood up and grabbed the chain for a necklace and unclasped it, sliding the ring on it before reclasping it around my neck. I looked at the ring one more time before tucking it underneath my shirt.

...

Word of Y/n's death spread around. By the end of the week, I had over 100 messages from people I supposedly went to school with saying how they were sorry for my loss. But, with these messages, there were also rumors spreading. Some of which were saying that she was murdered. Others were saying that she killed herself because she was pregnant. I quickly shut everyone down when they even tried to mention anything related to rumors or even Y/n's death for that matter.

Her funeral was held a few weeks after her passing. It was excluded to anyone who wasn't myself, May, Happy, Mr. Stark, Ned, or MJ. I didn't bother telling her grandparents. They didn't deserve to know. They would say it was her own fault and that she had it coming.

...

I placed some flowers in front of Y/n's gravestone and kissed my fingers before pressing them to the top of the stone, closing my eyes as a few tears fell down my face. I opened my eyes and wiped them with the sleeve of my hoodie before shoving my hands into my pockets and letting out a sigh. I turned around and started to walk back to my car, the cold wind whipping me in the face and snow sticking in my hair.

I once told Y/n I would never forget her. Never did I think she meant she was going to leave me so soon. I made her that promise, and I'm going to keep it.

I love you, Y/n.
