I walked over to the section of the store which held the bouquets of flowers, and searched the display for Y/n's favorite. When there was none, I walked up to one of the workers.

"Hi, uhh I'm Peter. I'm picking up flowers for someone and I really wanted to get her a bouquet of her favorite flowers and I didn't see any on the display over there. Do you by any chance have any (y/f/f) in the back?" I asked awkwardly.

"Let me check." She smiled and walked away.

She came back a few minutes later with a bouquet of flowers in her hand.

"Will these work?" She asked.

"Yes, thank you so much!" I exclaimed, taking the flowers from her hands.

"No problem, good luck!"

I smiled at her and walked away, pushing the cart over to one of the checkout lines and paying for my items. I took the bags out of the cart and put the cart back before walking out of the store and starting my journey back to the apartment.

I arrived back home a few minutes later, unlocking the door and sneaking in. Y/n and May were sitting next to each other on the couch while watching TV. I snuck past them and ran into my room, shutting the door behind me. I pulled out my phone and texted May, telling her I was home so she didn't flip out and think some psycho was in the apartment with her and Y/n. I checked the time on my phone as well.

4:04 pm

I slid my phone back into my pocket before pulling all of the items out of the grocery bags. I put all of the items into a large tote bag as well as a change of clothes for the date, and my laptop. I opened my bedroom door and snuck back out of my room, trying to walk quietly past May and Y/n for a second time.

"What's in the bag?" I heard Y/n ask from behind me.

I turned around and she was looking at me from over the back of the couch.

"Can't tell you! It's a suprise!" I yelled, running out of the apartment and making a beeline for the roof of the building.

I hurried up the steps and opened the door to the roof, shutting the door behind me and walking over to the small gazebo like structure. I sat the tote bag down on one of the lounge chairs which was resting by one of the posts of the gazebo.

I looked around at the area. There were dead leaves and twigs covering the rooftop. I grabbed the broom that was resting against one of the brick walls of the building. I cleaned up all of the dirt and leaves before going back over to the bag and taking out the contents.

I opened the box of lights and pulled them out. I strung them up around the roof of the gazebo before plugging them in and grabbing the blanket. I placed the blanket down in the center of the structure along with a few pillows.

I arranged the snacks and drinks on top of the blanket, followed by my laptop. I checked the time on my phone again.

5:51 pm

"Shit." I muttered to myself.

I dropped my phone down on one of the chairs and grabbed my clothes, quickly changing out of the ones I had on and into a more comfortable outfit. I hurriedly grabbed the bouquet of flowers and ran through the door to the roof, hurrying back down to the apartment to pick up Y/n.

I let out a quick and nervous breath before knocking on the door. Yeah, I could have just walked in. But I wanted to pick Y/n up like I would be able to if her parents were still alive. I wanted tonight to be special for her and not have it end up like last time.

I heard footsteps on the other side of the door and May opened it.

"Hey, Pete." May greeted, a smile growing on her face.

"Hey, May." I returned the smile.

I heard the tapping of Y/n's crutches against the floor as she came up beside May.

"You're late." She glared playfully.

I looked at the clock behind them.

"It's 6:01." I laughed.

"I'm gonna need an apology for making me wait so long, Parker." She spoke.

"Y/n, I'm sorry. Please take these flowers as a token of my reconciliation." I joked, handing her the flowers.

"Thank you, Peter. They're beautiful." She smiled and May grabbed the flowers from me.

"I'll put them in a vase with some water, you guys go have fun!" May spoke, practically pushing us out the door.

I laughed and walked next to Y/n, going over to the stairs to go to the roof. Y/n handed me her crutches and I grabbed them from her before wrapping my arm around her waist as she draped her arm over my shoulders.

I helped her up the steps and opened the door to the roof before handing her crutches back to her and walking slightly in front of her to make sure everything was still in tact.

Y/n came over and smiled widely, looking around at the scene in front of her. She looked back to me but her smile dropped and her face contorted into a look of confusion.
