Kai's POV
I'm worried about Xavier. He's been distant for days. He trains and locks himself in his office all day, and his mindlink is blocked. Addison and I will fall asleep without him and wake up alone, but I can smell his scent fresh on the sheets telling me he still lays with us late in the night. Addison tries not to show that it bothers her, but I can see it eating away at her.
As much as I want to hate it, I've grown used to Jaxon being around. And as much as I want to deny the idea of the two having a bond, even a blind man can see the drastic changes in his appearance. He looks healthier, they both do.
I can't get myself to understand it. As the beta of a pack of rogues it essentially makes sense. Our wolves need company to keep us sane. And who knows how much her father isolated her. I'm sure with Jaxon having no strong bond with his pack or a mate, and our little girl's mate bond being forcefully taken from her, it's what they both needed. But I still hate it.
I watch from the kitchen as she giggles and runs down the stairs. I can hear Jaxon growl from up the hall intriguing me.
"Addison!" She ducks behind the couch, and a purple head of hair emerges from the stairway.
"You've been pushing it all day, little girl..." With the stresses of Xavier being gone she's been slipping into little space a lot more often. Surprisingly, Jaxon has been able to handle her in her headspace pretty well. He almost seems to be a natural at it, and it's clear he may be a dominant himself.
Although it should put me on edge, I can tell my baby girl only sees him as a big brother figure when she's in her headspace which helps put me at ease.
He searches the living room, scouring every nook and cranny for her.
"Where in the hell did you get a hold of hair dye?" He grumbles and my little girl tries to hold in her laughter. The suspense in the air was thick as he slowly crept towards the couch she was hiding behind.
She waited till he was standing right in front of the couch, and as if she could sense his appearance. Then she stealthily hurdles herself over the couch and runs, making me lose my breath.
"Addison be careful! No running!" In Jaxon's panic his alpha tone slips up, but she doesn't seem to be fazed. Hmm, that's odd.
She bolts into the kitchen and her socks slipping on the marble floor seems to go in slow motion.
"Addison Taylor!" My voice is stern and I scoop her in my arms before she meets the stone floor. She yelps at the sudden action and Jaxon growls from the entryway.
His wolf is in-control as he stands in a protective stance making me shield Addison away. I growl back as a warning, but he looks ready to lunge. As if he's prepared to lay down his life or her. That doesn't sit well with me or my wolf. If he takes one step closer he's dead.
Addison recovers and pushes past me, "Jaxon!" Her tone is stern and full of power, something I've never heard from her before, "Calm down."
He bows his head in what can only be interpreted as submission, then it hits me.
  Holy shit.
"You're his alpha." Xavier stares from behind Jaxon, as surprised as I am.

Addison's POV

Xavier's presence surprises me more than the words he uttered. If he was upset with the idea of me bonding with Jaxon, I'm not sure how this will change things.
I take the fact that everyone is frozen in their place as my chance to get the hell out of there. I dash to our room, hoping I can take the chance to lock myself in the bathroom and shrivel away and die.
His Alpha? Me? How can this even be possible? A Luna of rogues was an idea I was just barely getting used to. But me having power over another alpha just doesn't seem plausible to me.
My head is spinning, I barely process the hand stopping my door from slamming shut. His hazel eyes act as my anchor as I struggle to stay calm.
  "Shhh baby calm down, love."
He takes a step towards me making me step back, "I didn't want- didn't mean to-"
Before I can take another step back he pulls me into him, halting all of my actions with an earth shattering kiss."
His forehead rests against mine, "Just breathe, Love, it's okay."
"I can't be his Alpha." He smiles softly, and leads me to the bed. He kneels in front of me, holding my face in his hands.
"Baby, look at me." His gaze is filled with what almost looks like adoration, "Do you know why you're his Alpha? Hm? It's because you were both in a vulnerable state. And even though you were both weakened and alone, his wolf saw the strength and the heart that you possessed and trusted your wolf enough to submit his power to you. When it comes to the two of you, his wolf sees you as someone worthy enough to care for and lead him."
"What does that mean?"
"It means, love, that you are the most amazing woman I've ever met; and you are going to be an amazing Luna, and even more amazing mother someday."
"You think so?" I sniffle, looking at him for any indication of a lie.
"I know so Addison. I love you so much. And I'm so sorry I've been such a shit mate to you lately."
I shake my head and kiss him softly, "It's okay."
I can't help myself, and trail soft kisses down his neck. He lets out a groan then smiles at me, "Let Daddy make it up to you, yeah?"
His hands trail up my dress making me wet instantly, "Yes please Daddy."
