Hailey breathed out, the wind cold and unforgiving against her body. She clinged onto her girlfriend's arm as they walked, desperate for the least of warmth.
"It's not that cold." Daisy laughed, but let Hailey cling onto her anyways.
"It is," Hailey whined, "you're just immune to cold."
"Did you really want coffee that badly that we had to go out in such cold?" Hailey mumbled.
"Hey! Coffee dates are really romantic, okay?" Daisy pouted cutely, her plush lips puffing out. Hailey wanted to kiss them.
She did just that, making Daisy stop in the middle of the pathway. Daisy gave in to her, kissing her for a moment before pulling away with a smile.
Hailey huffed. "Even if it is that romantic, did it have to be in the middle of the winter?"
"Honey, a hot chocolate will warm you up when we get there. Have patience, okay?" Daisy held Hailey's hand, pointing in a certain direction.
Now it was Hailey's turn to pout. She puffed out her lips, but obliged, clinging onto Daisy. Daisy laughed at her girlfriend's cuteness.
They walked into the cafe, gloved hands still intertwined. They found a table, Hailey almost running to it as Daisy followed, smiling fondly.
The place has considerably changed from the time Hailey used to work here. She doesn't mind, though, it's a nice change from the cramped up place it used to be.
But honestly, even if it hadn't changed in the slightest, this place would always have a special place in Hailey's heart. This was her first ever job—and where she had met the girl sitting next to her, deeply in love.
Being in the same school certainly helped develop their friendship, but this place is still where Hailey first noticed her, and vice versa, it seems.
She cheered seeing Daisy bringing back their hot chocolate drinks, and they clinked their glasses together in celebration of the upcoming holidays.
"I love you, you know that?" Daisy muttered, watching Hailey sip her drink.
Hailey smiled. She couldn't be more grateful.
