New Year parties are always messy.

Yet Daisy went ahead and threw one anyway. Why? Because she and her class are going to graduate college soon anyway, so may as well go all out.

She didn't remember much of the party itself, being high half the time. She remembered some snippets, like when Milly scared Zander so much he accidentally spilled his drink on Luke (it was hilarious), when Jake asked Henry if he could kiss him when the New Year fireworks went up (finally), when the current music club and some other people left the party (she didn't remember exactly who stayed and who didn't).

What she did remember was the morning after.

Daisy had woken up with an intense pounding in her head, a con of drinking. She mumbled about how she was never going to drink again (lies) as she put on her slippers, hoping there'd be enough coffee, iced water, and headache pills for everyone who stayed over. The house was even messier than she expected, bottles thrown everywhere, the couch pillows on the floor, champagne all over the kitchen counter, even a spot of red wine spilled (on her white couch. White. Couch. She's going to kill someone.).

All thoughts were wiped from her head when she saw a familiar face, except for "holy shit he is beautiful".

Liam stared at her, closing the bathroom door behind him. "Hi."

"Hi."

They looked at each other, and then Daisy asked, "You weren't drunk?"

"No." Liam smiled sheepishly. "Drew and Henry were drunk, and neither of them has high alcohol tolerance, so..."

"Oh."

Silence again. When did she get so awkward?

"Do you"—he gestured vaguely at the messy counter—"need help cleaning up?"

Daisy smiled. "I'd appreciate that."

And so there they were, cleaning up the broken glass shards on the floor. The silence was killing her, but she didn't know what to say. Didn't know if there was any need to speak.

Liam decided there was. "This is boring."

Daisy shrugged. She'd never really found cleaning boring. It calms her, actually. It forces unnecessary thoughts away (unless they're related to this boy beside her, apparently.)

"How about we tell each other our embarrassing secrets?"

She looked at him as if he'd grown two heads. "What?"

"Me and the homies do it when we're together and bored." He shrugged. "So, tell me. I promise no one else will find out."

What the hell will she tell him that doesn't make her want to drown herself?

"Well... you go first."

He smiled as if he knew something she didn't. "I had a crush on the girl Jake had a crush on."

"Isn't that a massive breach of bro code?" She threw the glass shards in the trashcan, trying to pretend she wasn't dying to know who the girl was.

"That's why I never told him. Not until he moved on, anyway."

"Did you move on?" She blurted out.

His gaze was challenging. "No."

They stared at each other, Daisy lost in his eyes until she forced herself to look away.

"Well, isn't it so sad Hailey is taken now."

"What?"

"What?" She frowned.

"It's not Hailey."

"Then who is it?"

Liam smirked again. God, Daisy wanted to kiss him stupid.

What?

"You tell me something embarrassing about yourself."

Daisy absolutely did not know where the boldness came from when she stupidly opened her mouth without thinking, for the millionth time today. "I had a crush on you in freshmen year."

Liam blushed, and Daisy felt accomplished. "Oh."

"I think everyone did," she continued, God knows why, "I mean, you were..." She lost her nerve and ended up gesturing vaguely at him, and he let out a laugh.

"Thank you." He didn't look at her again, deciding to clean the counter.

He looked like he was building up the courage to say something, and Daisy let him. She cleaned up the couch while he was at the counter.

Liam was done, and after washing his hands he called her over. "Daisy, come here."

"Yes?" she asked when she was next to him.

"It's my turn to tell you who she was."

Daisy straightened up, a little more interested. "Yes."

"It was you."

The time stopped. The cheesy New Year songs were still playing on the radio, the fan's obnoxious spinning could still be heard, yet she didn't hear any of it.

Until he corrected himself. "It is you."

Daisy leaned forward and kissed him.

She didn't know how they got into this position, all she knows is soon Liam was sitting on the counter, Daisy in between his legs, holding her head up to let their lips meet. Did she die already? Is this heaven?

"Uh..."

They finally broke apart to notice Drew, who was looking at them tiredly. Barely looking at them, really, as his eyes were half closed.

"As happy as I am for you two, you're blocking the fridge, and I'd really like iced water right now. Please get your ass off the counter." Drew deadpanned.

Daisy and Liam's eyes met and they started laughing, Daisy's head leaning against his thigh, his hands in her hair. She couldn't have imagined a better way to spend New Year's Eve.
