Shoji's underrated, way too underrated. It's not just this. Who agrees w me?
. . .
I looked at him in puzzlement. He said 'earlier', but what happened earlier for him to apologize?
"I tried to stop you thinking you won't be able to melt those attacks." He reminded. He simply should've trusted me to be better than recklessly jump into a situation. Honestly a part of him felt guilty for straying from the group as well and yet I managed to find him. Not that I knew all of his reasons.
I jerked in realization, "Oh, I wasn't even thinking of that, I mean I thought you were simply warning me to be careful, there's nothing wrong about that. Plus-" before I could finish, we saw that the Seiijin students took the bait.
I pulled my arms back on either side and shot them forward towards the hole in the tank, pushing the flames in. The container blasted and Todoroki instantly created an ice wall to block the blast from hitting us.
Even though the Seijin students' costumes were fireproof, they weren't tear proof.
Both of us peeped from behind the wall to check if it worked. I didn't know that at the same time Todoroki was unconsciously and excessively mulling over why I came here of all places and if I followed him on purpose when I realized he would be alone.
Meanwhile I sent my ropes to bind all of them while they were still in the air after the blast.
Todoroki immediately spread ice to capture them all after they fell so they're buried and won't use the same attacks again.
"Those bastards,... they're crazy..." Red said.
"It looks like the commission kept the force of the explosion down." Todoroki said as I turned instantly to him in bewilderment, "that wasn't enough?" No I mean, it could have been stronger if I tried, but like still...
"Bastards.." Red repeated again.
I turned to them, "no matter how much you curse, it doesn't change the fact that you got beaten, even with those underhanded methods..."
"Sorry. I can't afford to fail." Todoroki said lifting a ball in hand and going to hit the targets.
I took one out too but hesitantly as I looked back in an unspecified direction. Maybe I should wait for a bit.
"They'll be fine if you trusted them enough to leave them"
"Well,.. uh it's not that, but, I guess I, should trust them then..." I said and went to hit the targets. My actions felt slow as I subconsciously delayed it but he waited. It was done. I want to believe they can do this. Everything felt kind of grey as I was being indecisive about finishing my test. I am capable of leaving Izu some times to fight his own battles too, I shouldn't think too much. It's stupid that if anything goes wrong later, I know I could regret it. Mina's comeback earlier about them being able to handle themselves came to mind. I guess we can't always know if we decide the right thing, but in the end what matters is we made the choice. Whatever the outcome, I'll bear or accept it.
I sent flames to melt their ice to take my ropes back. Todoroki immediately for some reason blocked my vision by stepping in front of me before I could say a word and took me away by the wrist.
"Wait, let's at least help them get out" I said looking back but Todoroki just pulled even faster, "They'll come out on their own"
"But- why...?" I said extremely confused, he wasn't the kind of person to leave them like that.
He looked to me and said, "Their clothes were torn off, did you want to see that?" he asked bluntly.
My face filled up with a pink color, "No of course not! You didn't have to point it out explicitly!" I squeaked, I looked down as we walked, "plus I didn't even think about that" I said with a pout, maybe I was a little embarrassed at the question itself rather than the idea. Why did he bother?
