"Joe, we should leave it at that number for now though" Elle said softly as she documented everything and Joe sat on the treatment table waiting for them to leave. Joe nodded. "I know, it would probably be best" he agreed with her.

Elle nodded with a sigh. "I've talked to Nick about being afraid of jeopardizing my job, and he's said that theoretically we're not breaking any rules, since there isn't a rule for it yet. However, he is pretty sure that there will be a meeting as soon as it becomes official and then they will discuss whether it should be banned or not"

"Because of us, maybe a new rule will be introduced?" Joe asked in surprise. "Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?" Elle shrugged. "They'll probably have to do that. But Nick is pretty positive about the whole thing. I just don't want...." Elle sighed again.

"...For it to come out too soon and then be discussed about it so much, because I could imagine that the outcome or the process could destroy quite a bit" Joe nodded in agreement. "so far only Ja'Marr and Nick know...well, and your best friend, who I don't trust to go and tell Mike Brown about it now though" Elle giggled.

"Although your entourage has so many contacts in that team, I wouldn't be surprised if your best friend knows Mike Brown" Joe added with a grin. "yeah well, actually...." Elle started and had to laugh when she saw Joe's shocked look. "I'm just kidding" she giggled.

Sighing, she then looked at her watch. "I should get going. I'm sure my dad and Nick are waiting for me" "do you want me to take you to Nick's office?" Joe asked. "So you can totally freak out again because you don't know whether to introduce yourself to my dad or not?" Elle asked laughing.

"Yeah, maybe" Joe shrugged. "never mind, I'll find my own way and I'm sure you have other things to do, right?" Elle approached him. "Yeah, actually I do" Joe shrugged again.

Elle giggled. "Well then, I'll see you tomorrow night, ok?" she pressed a kiss to his lip. Surprised, Joe stared at her. After her talk just now, he hadn't expected that at all.

"Don't get used to it. That was just because we won't see each other until tomorrow night" she grinned at him and gave him another kiss.

"Starting Monday, we're going to be completely professional with each other when we're in this facility" Elle grinned as she put her arms around Joe's neck. Joe grinned. "Starting Monday? That means I can do this today?" he asked with a grin, putting his hand on Elle's chin and placing his lips on hers.

"I really have to go" Elle giggled as they broke away from making out and she rested her forehead against his. "See you tomorrow" she gave him one last kiss before disengaging from his arms, grabbing her backpack and smiling at Joe one last time before leaving the room.

Smiling, she walked back into Nick's office. "I'm back" she called out laughing as she entered the room. In addition to Nick and her dad, Zac had apparently joined the two of them by now.

"How did it go with Joe?" Nick asked as Elle dropped into the chair next to her dad. "Haven't been able to find anything, but if you don't mind, I'd ask you to look over the footage again. You know it better than I do. Just to be safe" Elle explained.

Immediately, Nick opened Joe's file and called up the images on the screen. Interested, Zac eyed the footage over Nick's shoulder. "I agree with you, Elle. Nothing noticeable to detect. Everything looks good" Nick confirmed Elle's thesis.

"Which means nothing stands in the way of your weekend off. Give me your walkie-talkie and get out of here. I don't want to see you again until Monday morning, okay? You're under orders from me not to take any calls from your work colleagues, understand?" Nick raised his finger warningly. Elle nodded with a grin.

"Then chop, chop, get out of here. And tell your mom and brothers I said hi" Nick clapped his hands and immediately Elle and her dad jumped up. "From me too" Zac called after them as the two walked out of the room together.

Together with her dad, Elle headed back to her apartment and cleaned up her work stuff first before arranging with her dad for Elle to take a shower while her dad went to the fast food place around the corner and got the two of them something to eat before they would make the three hour drive to Mansfield later.

By the time her dad returned with the fries and burgers, Elle had just packed her bag for the night and flopped down on the couch with a sigh. She was wearing her brace again and her wet hair had been twisted into a quick bun.

"Nick told me you bruised your shoulder. Is that why you have to wear that thing?" her father asked as they ate, nodding at Elle's brace. Elle nodded as she dipped her fries in the ketchup.

"He told me you played against quarterback Joe Burrow and got hurt. Wasn't that the guy who picked you up from the office earlier?" her dad continued to ask. Elle nodded and had to suppress a grin. She had been right, her dad knew exactly who Joe was.

"Was he the one who hurt you?" her dad raised an eyebrow questioningly. "Joe? No, he wasn't even playing when it happened. It was one of the other players, but it's not his fault and it's not as bad as it looks" Elle clarified.

After eating, Elle's dad went ahead and carried her bag into the car while Elle changed clothes and then locked up the apartment before following her dad and dropping into the passenger seat with a grin.

"Let's go home" her dad started the engine. "Let's go home" Elle answered him smiling.

"my god, you're finally back" no sooner had Elle entered her parents' house than her mother came running up to her and pulled Elle tightly into her arms. "Hey mum" Elle sighed and put her free arm around her mother.

"You can't imagine how happy I am that you finally came to visit us. I missed you so much" her mother hugged her even tighter and stroked her back.

Smiling, Elle broke away from the tender embrace. "I'm glad to be here again. It's been ages."

Her mother nodded in agreement. "Your brothers can't wait to see you later either. I invited them over for dinner" she explained.

Elle had to grin. "I guessed that" she mumbled.

I realized that the conversation continues in this chapter so it is easier to understand if I post this chapter too!

I was so unhappy with the last chapter that I forgot to ask a question lol

Question: are you good with plants?

My answer: absolutely not! I'm so bad that every plant dies when I'm responsible for it. I even killed a cactus 😅
