Warnings: Small mention of blood
Age: 12
Y/n shoved the rest of her lunch in her mouth, chewing as quickly as she could. She wanted to get back outside and continue riding around on her bike. The Avenger's Compound was a large property, and gave the energetic pre-teen tons of fun places to ride through.
"Don't forget to chew your food, silly." Natasha giggled as she saw her daughter finish off the rest of her sandwich.
Y/n smiled as she swallowed, downing the glass of water her mom had given her. Then she picked up her helmet and ran towards the door.
"I'm going back out mom!" she called out, hand on the front door knob.
"Be careful, and remember-" Natasha started."Stay on the compound property. I know mom." y/n smiled as she disappeared through the door.
She clipped on her helmet and remounted her bike, then peeled off down one of the many sidewalk paths that were everywhere on the compound property. She swerved in and out, avoiding any cracks or bumps in the cement that could result in her crashing.
It was extremely cloudy and chilly outside due to the rainy weather from the night before. The dirt and grass had been reduced to nothing more than soggy piles of mud and muck. There were rain puddles everywhere that y/n tried her best to avoid, not wanting to slide and crash.
Picking up speed on her bike, she pedaled towards a wide turn in the sidewalk, wanting to take it as quickly as she could. All was going smooth as she turned the handle bars, guiding herself through the turn, until she hit a large rain puddle. The bike tires slid out from under her, throwing her off the bike, crashing into the pavement.
She sat there on the ground for a second, trying to process what had just happened. That's when the pain hit her. Her legs and arms were stinging profusely as she saw blood dotting her shins and arms.
"Friday?" she called out with a shaky voice. Friday was the AI that Tony had installed through the whole compound. People usually asked her to do small things, like turn on the lights or locate a specific person on the property.
"Yes, Miss Romanoff?" the female automated voice replied.
"Can you get my mom?" y/n asked, trying to keep herself from crying.
"Of course." Friday responded.
Y/n tried to slowly get up, not exactly wanting to be a weak crying mess when her mom eventually got there. But her legs gave out, buckling under her weight. The gashes on her legs and arms began to sting worse at her sudden movement.
A few moments later, a worried Natasha appeared at y/n's side. She knelt down, trying to take in her daughter's injuries.
"What happened, baby?" she asked, helping y/n sit upright and unclipped her biking helmet.
"I slipped." she whimpered at the movement, clutching onto her mother's arms.
"Is anything broken?" Natasha brushed some of her daughter's hair out of her face, who just shook her head in response. "Let's get you cleaned up." She slid her arms around the pre-teen and picked her up, carefully carrying her back to the compound.
"It hurts, mama." y/n whispered, holding onto the red-head's shirt as the two made their way through the building, into Natasha's room.
"It's going to be ok." Natasha soothed as she set the girl down on the bathroom counter. She reached into one of the lower cabinets and pulled out a first aid kit. She took out some supplies, then turned to her daughter. "This is going to sting a little."
"Can I uh...can I hold your hand?" y/n asked in a timid voice.
"Of course." Natasha held out her hand, which her daughter took, gripping on tightly as the red-head began cleaning up the scrapes. Y/n sat as still as she could as her mother worked, but she couldn't help flinching each time Natasha went over the cuts.
Eventually, she had finished cleaning up the wounds and placed several bandages over y/n's knees and arms.
"Thank you, mama." y/n said as she let go of her mother's hand and watched her throw away the messy tissue and used medical supplies.
"Of course, baby. You took quite a tumble." Natasha smirked, fixing the girl's hair. Y/n just smiled and rubbed her eyes, tired from all the excitement. "Come on, my tough girl. You should get some rest."
Natasha helped y/n down from the bathroom counter and into bed, pulling the covers up to her daughter's chin.
"Mama, can you stay with me?" y/n asked, already half asleep.
"Of course." Natasha smiled and crawled into bed with her daughter. Y/n immediately snuggled into her mother's side, holding on tightly as the two of them drifted off to sleep for a midday nap.
