A/n: Hello everybody! Today is April 10, 2021. I'm probably gonna write some Kathryn Hahn stuff up later because I'm really down bad for her and have been watching all of her works.

This has some elements of Kaz x Reader, be warned.

Ever since her eyes scanned over that letter, Y/n was a different person, and the Crows could tell. She was a quiet girl, keeping to herself and working diligently

The Crow Club doesn't get mail very often, but from the second that letter arrived with it's emblazoned Ravkan seal, Y/n had been flurrying around, getting ready for the arrival of them

The leaders of the First and Second Army. Nikolai, Zoya, Genya, and David.

Y/n's first and closest friends.

Not according to the Crow's, however.

Y/n had a...complicated past. She was one of the quietest soldiers of the First Army, but consistently disobeyed direct orders simply to throw herself in the crosshairs of war to save other people.

What Nikolai and Zoya loved about her? Through every step of the war, she managed to quite effectively piss off the Darkling. Got a knife or two in him a handful of times. He had almost killed her in the end, tired of her antics. He had gotten his two hands around her throat and held her against the deck, that vein in his forehead popping out.

She was laughing until she blacked out.

By some sheer stroke of luck (also known as Zoya throwing the Darkling against the mast), Y/n managed to survive. And once the war was over, Y/n had found herself bumped up in promotions, sitting in the councils with the three main Grisha and the king of Ravka.

Once they went to Ketterdam to investigate the jurda crisis, Y/n knew she had really found her home. Her true home. Ravka was her home, technically, but it felt lackluster. She loved the war, in the sense that she liked the excitement, the anticipation of having no clue what will happen.

She felt that in Ketterdam, she found people like her. The Crows. Kaz, Inej, Wylan, Jesper, Nina, and Matthias. They understood her in a way that her other peers just didn't.

Nikolai, Zoya, Genya, and David knew this. They saw the change in her heart, and knew she had to leave, go with these new people that were more than ready to take her in and welcome her to their disfunctional family.

Hard-hearted bastards of the barrel as some of them may be, though.

Dearest Y/n,

We hope this message finds you in good health and that Ketterdam has treated you...as well as one would expect Ketterdam to treat you.

You know what, forget all this "royal, prim and proper way" of sending letters. I miss you terribly, N/n. We all do. I mean, especially me, but Zoya and Genya miss having you around the Little Palace. We've all decided to go on a little...royal tour, if you say. Specifically to Kerch. Specifically in the Ketterdam area.

We will see you in two weeks time.

Love,

King Nikolai of Ravka

And Zoya

And Genya

And David (I suppose, although he didn't really acknowledge me)

Y/n had practically screamed when she read it, causing Jesper to cock his guns and come rushing towards her, prepared to annihilate the threat. Instead, he found Y/n clutching a letter, babbling about her friends coming to visit.

And so she waited with excitement, awaiting the arrival and telling the Crows about every bit of her old life. They knew, they knew that Y/n didn't want to go back, but it couldn't help but hear about this girl that had a life before...them.

They loved her, and she loved them, but they knew she didn't just exist for their life together. Y/n was quiet, she kept to herself, even though she had been working on opening up, but with these people...she was no longer that reserved girl that saved her explosiveness for a fight.

A knock on the door interuppted the Crows quiet game of cards. Y/n almost spilled her drink in excitement, slamming her cards down on the table as she runs to the front door of the club. The Crows all cast uneasy looks at each other, unsure of how this visit will go.

Three girl's shrieking is heard from the threshold, all swooping Y/n up into their arms. Once they finally relinquish their grip, the King of Ravka himself grabbed Y/n up in a massive bear hug, beaming into her lovely hair.

Kaz's grip twists around the head of his crow cane, leather squealing loudly. His face is unmoving, however, not betraying the rage inside of him. That's his girl, whether he's admitted it or not.

For the next few days, Y/n opens up to them in ways that she hadn't before. Laughing and talking in a loud, boisterous voice, showing them around and teaching them different Kerch customs.

The Crows felt like insignificant shadows, barely looked at or thought over, simply following her around because they didn't want to let her out of their sight.

Finally, on the last day, when the four Ravkans had gone to bed, Y/n confronts the Crows. "Alright, you guys are being so strange. What is it?"

"Nope-nothing. Nothing's strange, we're not strange," Jesper rambles, holding his chin in his hand.

"Jesper," Inej says blankly, shaking her head in disbelief at him.

"What?!" He mouths obviously to her, causing her to roll her eyes.

"Sweetheart, we think it's fantastic that everyone is here to visit; I've had such a lovely time visiting with Zoya and Genya as well, but have you ever noticed how...different you are around them?" Nina asks, holding Y/n's shoulders.

Y/n blinks at her. "What do you mean...'different'?"

"Like you're a completely different person," Inej pipes up, her brow creasing as she tosses her glossy hair over her shoulder.

"It's alright!" Wylan interjects, not wanting to seem accusatory. "It's just that, well, it took you a while to open up to us, and we're not even sure if you fully have, which is alright! But it's just...you're so...happy with them," he says nervously.

"You're a Crow, Y/n, don't you ever forget that," Kaz says coldly.

"Demjin!" Matthias shouts. "She knows that, you don't have to be rude. We aren't attacking her with cruelty, merely pointing things out."

Y/n raises her eyebrows and lets them drop, shaking her head. "Wow. I don't think I really realized how different I was. We've just been through so much together, you know? The war, the Darkling...all of it. It was so much time spent together, experiencing the same trauma. And I know it's similair for us, but it isn't exactly the same. Not yet, at least. It's only been a year. You don't need to worry about your placement in my life because you guys are my constants! I chose to live in Ketterdam, I chose to stay with you guys. You all are my family, and that's not changing, even if my friends visit," she explains, looping everyone in for a hug, minus Kaz, of course.

Looking over the pile of her friends, she stares at Kaz and smiles softly, that smile that breaks Kaz into internal pieces and wishes she would pick up and put back together. "And no silly Ravkan king is going to steal me away either, for that matter."
