Y/n's pov

"Okay, this is Randolph road. The fence starts here and goes all the way around to here." Lucas explained, pointing at some of the sticks.

"And this is the lab." He placed down a can in the middle of it all.

"So the doorway is in there. It's gotta be." He said.

"Who owns the lab?" I asked.

"The sign says department of energy." Lucas recalled.

"Which is...?" I asked.

"Government, military. That sort of thing. there's a bunch of soldiers out front." Lucas said.

"So,What do they make? Lightbulbs or something?" Dustin asked.

"I don't know!" I raised my hands up.

"They make weapons and stuff. For the army." Lucas said.

"Weapons." Mike said.

"Shit. What do we do?" Dustin asked.

"We can't go home. We're fugitives now." Mike said.

"Mike's right. If we go home we're just putting our families in more danger. It'll be safer out here. Away from them." I agreed.

Suddenly, we heard a helicopter flying over us.

"Shit!" I said.

"Come on!" Lucas said.

We hid our bikes under an old rusted bus, then I yanked the door open and we all clambered inside.

We crouched down, until we heard the helicopter pass by.

Then, a voice broke out over the radio.

"Mike, are you there?" A girl's voice came through Mike's supercom.

"Is that... Nancy?" I asked, slightly confused, looking to my brother.

Mike grabbed the radio and was about to answer when Dustin stopped him.

"Wait! What if it's a trap! What if the bad men are forcing her to say that?" Dustin worried.

"Mike, it's me, Nancy. Mike are you there?Answer, Mike, we need you to answer." Nancy said.

Mike hesitated, unsure of what to do, and El looked baffled.

"Mike, this is an emergency. Do you copy? Mike, do you copy?" Nancy said.

"Don't answer." Lucas stated.

"She said it was an emergency!" Mike whisper shouted.

"We have bigger problems then our sisters 'emergency' right now! Besides, what if the bad men found her and put her up to this! It's too risky!" I whisper shouted.

"It's like Lando Calrissian." Dustin muttered.

Mike sighed, and was about to turn off his supercom when another voice rang out.

"Listen, kid. This is the chief. If you're there, pick up. We know you're in trouble and we know about the girl." Hoppers voice rang out.

"The chief?" I asked.

"What's Your sister doing with the chief?" Dustin asked Mike and I.

"We can protect you, we can help you, but you gotta pick up. Are you there, do you copy? Over." Hopper said.

"Yeah I copy. I'm here... we're here." Mike said into the radio.

——

It had been about ten minutes since we last talked to Hopper.

Ten minutes since Mike had turned off his radio.

Ten minutes since we had given up our location.

Ten minutes with no reply from the chief or Nancy.

But ten minutes was too long.

Dustin was currently pacing back and forth down the aisle of the bus, muttering to himself, so I could tell he was stressed.

"It's been way too long. You know what? Maybe this is all a trap and the bad men are coming to get us right now!" Dustin said.

"Why would he set us up? Maybe Nancy, but not the chief." Lucas reassured, earning an offended look from Mike.

"Maybe he's working with the lab and he wants to find Will so that they can run weird sciency experiments on him. It's just like Lando Calrissian." Dustin said.

"Will you shut up about lando!" Lucas exclaimed.

"I don't feel good about this!" Dustin yelled.

"When do you feel good about anything?!" I shot back.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of screeching tires.

I looked out the window and saw cars.

That definitely wasn't Hopper.

"Shit." I said quietly.

El stood up to look but Mike pulled her back down by her shoulders.

We were all crouched behind seats, Lucas beside me.

"Do you think they saw us?" Lucas whispered.

"Shh!" I whispered, grabbing his hand.

I heard doors close, then people yelling to each other, and my heart stopped when I heard the bus door open.

"I think- Hey!" I heard a man's voice yell.

A series of thumps sounded outside the bus and someone else stepped onto the bus.

Hopper.

"All right, let's go." Hopper said to us, getting more aggressive when nobody moved. "I said let's go!"

I sighed in relief and realized I had been holding Lucas's hand, and he had been holding mine back.

We both quickly let go and blushed, trying not to look at each other as we followed the chief out of the bus and to his truck.
