"Somethings wrong, we have to take the Princess to another room quickly!" An older Daemos man, dressed in grey robes with red horns carried an infant, running to another room where the maids and nurses of the royal family were already stationed.
"What's going on? Where is she?" The Queen, who has just given birth and still bleeding, was gazing at the man who had helped her deliver her child. Her vision was blurry as they soon closed to never see what happened to the Princess.
In the other room, the male doctor and the maids of the castle surrounded the crying female newborn Daemos as mysterious sparks burst out randomly from her fingertips and toes.
"Sir, what's happening to her?" A maid asked.
"This is unlike anything I've ever seen in the Royal family, quickly, we have to place her in a containment with the healing potions in it so that she doesn't die," The doctor ordered the maids to move, and they rushed to quickly set up everything.
Soon, the infant was placed in the chamber, tubes from tanks filled with a pink liquid filling up the tank inside.
"What's happened to her?" An older woman, middle-aged but with grey hair, walked over to the man and maids.
"Your majesty! I'm sorry to hear about the Princess, how's the Prince doing?" The doctor avoided the question.
"Yes, he'll grieve for several weeks, but he's strong," The queen closed her eyes upon recalling the Princess' death from childbirth. "Now answer me."
"Yes, your highness. Um, I'm not really sure, to be honest. Usually, when a Daemos is born, their horns are very small, more like a bump. Magic is always taught, and to keep it sustained for a long time you have to take the soul of a human. However, the royal family's inherited magic, fire as the example here, is usually not seen till their five years of age, am I correct?"
"Spit it out," The Queen snapped.
"Right- well, when the Princess came out, her horns were more than bumps, they were about the length of a five-year-old with the body of an infant. Her magic- it was... already showing," The doctor tries to explain. "Basically, what I'm saying is, as an infant to be showing this magic, it's too strong for the body to hold, meaning she can die if we don't keep her in this chamber."
"Has this incident ever been seen?"
"In my decades of work... never before. Only studied from the 'Purple Curse' centuries ago."
"Sorry, my age must be getting to me, but what exactly was the 'Purple Curse'?" The Queen chuckled slightly, shaking her head and rubbing her forehead. She walked around the chamber carrying the newborn princess while the doctor explained the story.
"Oh, right, um- You see, it was the time when babies of Daemos would be born with power or powers that oversight their body, making them die right away, or later on in life. Those children that did survive their first minutes, would start to see a reaction in their blood vessels where it changed to a harsh purple. The overpowering.. and- burst, of the natural magic inside them, was too harsh that it could make the baby or child literally... burst. Just like a carbonated potion, when shaken, will explode. It was a sad time for those that were not of the royal family, and many children died from it, hence the minute population of outsiders today. Infants and children would die and the older women and men became too old to give birth to Daemos," The doctor finished.
"Natural Magic hasn't been seen for many years. It has a limit though right?" The Queen questioned, walking up to the chamber and gently placing her hand on the glass to the infant. The young princess was small, with s/c skin, h/c hair, and about five inches in length of milky white horns on her head.
"Yes, the only limit that was studied, is if all the magic stored in the body is used instantly all at once."
"How can we make sure that she survives the curse?"
"That has not yet been proven reliable. There were many studies, but a lot was given up. I could recruit some inventors and technicians to try and create a potion to heal her from the magic-" The doctor began.
"No," The Queen stated, still staring deeply at the sleeping baby.
"Excuse me, your highness?"
"What if you study something different, like making guards that can have adjusted settings to use a certain amount of the natural magic," She suggested.
"That hasn't even been looked into, what if we can't do it?"
"Daemos has built and created more difficult things than simple guards, I believe you can do it, Doctor," The Queen smiled, turning around and patting him on the shoulder.
"It may take years, I don't know how long the chamber will work," The doctor replied, sweat dropping.
"Well then, you may wanna begin right away," The Queen walked out of the room, leaving the Doctor to his thoughts while he stared at the princess in the chamber.
