"So, about that crime scene item..." I took Ciel's hand and took him to the dining area. Sebastian followed automatically. "Well?" He sat down in his original seat, I sat down in mine as well. I took a second to think, I decided to tell the truth, but not the full truth. "I found Alois' ring. It happened to be a trap but I was able to escape, I must've dropped the ring on my run out because I seem to be unable to find it.." I pretended to dig around in my pockets. "Hmm.. well that's o-" Ciel was interrupted by a knock at the door. I couldn't help but fret at the thought of it being the mail carrier. "S.. Claude. Answer the door, will you?" He rested his face on his hands whilst flipping through the files. "I am completely stumped, wouldn't you think a demon might've tried to clean up the evidence of them ever being there?" He turned to me. I nodded, "It's almost like they wanted us to find them... it could be a taunt." I intertwined my fingers together, resting my head on them. My leg bounced in anxiety as Sebastian opened th door. Ciel was speaking but it was all blurry to me. I was focused on Sebastian's conversation, I learned over my years with my family that eavesdropping can save lives, so I learned how to do it quite well. But I was flawed, if someone were to clap or a loud nose were to be in my range; I'd be snapped out of it and unable to go into full focus again.

I stared at the table, listening to Sebastian and the mystery person at the door. "My, a policewoman? How may I help you?" Sebastian said in his usual tone. "Are you Ciel Phantomhive?" She sounded serious but she had a small hint of fear in the back of her throat. "Oh. No. I'm his butler, Claude. May you wish to come in?" I stood up quickly, the flyer. "Ciel, may you excuse me? I must grab something from your room.","I.. okay. Be quick, we aren't done here." I nodded and speed-walked past the door with my face covered. I practically ran up and through the stairs. I turned the corner to the hall and.. BANG! "Oh! Oh! I'm sorry Alex!" I heard a familiar voice, Mary. I rubbed my forehead, blood dripped off of my face. "Oh... oh no! Let me grab you a cloth...!","No! I'll be fine, thank you Mary." I speed walked past her, wiping the blood off of my face. It most likely spread, I looked at the back of my hand whilst entering Ciel's room. It was everywhere. "Man.. did Mary have a spike on her collarbone or something?!" I heard a light knock on the door. "Come in.." I turned around to see Mary opening the door. She held an aid kit and a cloth.

"Please sit down and let me aid you Hertlair!" I nodded and sat down on Ciel's bed whilst she walked up to me. "I didn't mean to bump into you.. I swear. It seems you got cut on my necklace, I apologise.." She fixed her glasses and dabbed my forehead with a cold cloth. I hoped her aid was better than her maidwork, but.. "Oh I apologise!","Ah!" I jerked my head away from her hand. "You don't stitch like that-.. Who hired you?!" I grabbed her hand and took the needle out of her fingers. "Hand me a mirror, will you?" She nodded with confidence and exited the room temporarily, returning 2 minutes later. I looked at my forehead in the mirror and stitched it myself. "Pass me a bandage, if you may." She handed me a bandage and I patched up my forehead after cleaning it a second time for good measure. "Someone really needs to teach you.." I sighed in disappointment and handed her everything back. Another knock came from the door, I expected it to be Ciel but when Mary answered it, it was the police woman. I panic I quickly flipped, and threw myself into the middle of the bed. My face was buried in Ciel's pillows as the Policewoman entered the room. "Hello?" She tapped my leg. I had to think quick, so I gave myself a fake Australian accent..

"Yes?" I didn't turn over to her, I held in laughter. My accents were the worst, and I think Mary could tell too. "Alex, is it?" She remained stern. "Yes. What do you wish to ask?","Have you've seen Y/N Silversfield anywhere near this residence. We've had reports of them being spotted running here." I laughed, "Us? Letting a Silversfield on this property? Do you even know who the Phantomhive's are?" She sighed, "Yes we do, they work with us. We've also had reports of the Silversfield's and Phantomhive's being friends, not competitors. They did a collaboration in 1698, creating the Phantomhive's second most sold toy." I couldn't help but chuckle. What is this woman? A stalker? "I've done my research. And so it'd make sense they'd go to someone discreet but well trusted.","Well, I don't know. I haven't seen a 'Y/N' here before." I stretched, still laying down face-first. "And who are you, Alex? I've never heard of a Hertlair being friends with a Phantomhive. I'd assume you work here, but your attire says you're quite wealthy for an employee." She started investigating me. "Hertlair isn't my maiden name. I'm married to a wealthy partner and the Phantomhive's are allowing them and I to stay here until our house is fully renovated."

"A renovation on a house owned by a married couple by the last name Hertlair? Where do you live?" I exhaled silently, she needed to get off my back. "I deeply apologise but I am sick at the moment and need my rest, may we continue this later?" I coughed. She sighed, "We may. Contact me if you have any more information." She left the room. I dropped the accent and groaned. "I apologise for asking, but why did you lie?" She walked up to me and I sat up. "Let's just say.. they might've arrested me if I didn't lie." I cracked my back and got up. I heard the entrance door close. "Just don't tell anyone. Okay?" I unwrinkled my clothing and fixed my hair. "Al.. alright! May I grab you anything?" She smiled, I declined, "No thank you. Ciel and I will be working on the case a little bit more. I thank you for asking but I shall be leaving now." I left the room and walked to the dining room. "Ciel.","Alex, I have a lead." I quickly took my seat as he opened a file and flipped to a certain page. "The branding on the boys neck rang familiar to me so I ended up looking it up in my books. I found this." He grabbed a novel and flipped to a page, pointing at a symbol that looks almost identical to it. "Alois has a maid named Hana, right? Well, if I am correct; that's Hana's pact symbol. I thought it was odd, assuming he had made a pact with her. But the pact symbol disappears when the persons wish is granted."

"Ohh I see!" It clicked, "You're saying Hana killed this boy and this girl, leaving a symbol on him to taunt at us?" He nodded, "I think they want us to look for them, obviously that is a trap.","But Maybe they're holding the last remaining items?" I balled my hand into a fist. "It makes so much sense. They killed the woman and child, branded one of them and stole the case. They framed me so I'd get caught and Alois would be able to grab us both at the same time. Then Alois would be able to kill you and competition would be erased. With your soul in your ring, he practically owns you. And I don't want to know what he'd do with that..." I relaxed my fist and exhaled. Ciel nodded, "It's a smart plan I'll give him that. But yet, he's not smart enough." I let out an audible 'ah!', "I get it now! He stole the contents and stole your ring because if we were to escape; we'd have a reason to return to him." I grabbed the file and flipped to the lady's dead body. I examined her eyes, she had died with them open. Her eyes were dull and dead. "Ciel. I think that lady had made a pact with Hana. And maybe Hana knew she held my contents, so she took it for granted and killed her after she completed her wish.. but what was her wish?" Ciel and I sat in silence for a minute.

"If Hana were to realise she had my suitcase, it would have to be after she stole them, right? So she had to have made a pact shortly after she escaped with it. But what kind of wish is that quick..." I thought out loud. "Unless.. Hana killed her before she granted her wish." I turned to Ciel, "You think she'd break the rules just for a bag?","Well, can you think of any other wishes that take 5 minutes? Didn't think so.." He contemplated. "Well the contents were surely very important. Pretty rare, it'd make sense. And maybe she dropped it in front of that mans path so he could find it, and so that we could find it.","But.. do you really think she'd allow herself to get shot and sliced?" Ciel rested his head on his hands once again. "Actually.. when I come to think of it; she was spotless. She didn't have scarring or patches. Do demons heal that fast?" He shook his head. "No, not unless it is boosted with magic, even then it'd leave a mark. And no weapons can even touch a demon." He looked at Sebastian and looked back to me. "I've seen Se.. Claude survive many situations no normal person could survive, I doubt she would've gotten shot and bled. Let alone cut." Sebastian cut in, "Actually, master. If you don't mind me adding; certain weapons can harm demons. Most of them are other weapons from other demons. Hana, for example; has a sword that can erase a demons soul. And I of course have my spider threads."

Ciel turned to the files and flipped to the pages showing the scene, "Do you remember seeing any potential weapons? A possible gun, or maybe a knife?" He examined the photographs closely. "Do you think..","Wait, it says here the two bloods are from two different people." I looked at him with confusion. "Alois... doesn't have any other demons; does he?" Ciel shook his head, "No, you can only have one pact at a time. Meaning.. Hana is working for him voluntarily. But that arises the question; why?" I sat and thought for a second, I couldn't think of anything. "Not a single idea. Do you think Hana would hurt herself and a second demon with their own weapons?" I rubbed my temples. "That reminds me. I remember escaping the Trancy mansion and hearing multiple footsteps, possibly 6 pairs. One I am assuming was Alois, another was probably Claude and another's was probably Hana's..","Hm.. but that leaves 3 people left. Do you suspect another 3 people are working for him? Maybe they could've assisted in framing a fight." Ciel examined the blood splatters. "I apologise for once more cutting in, but I was unable to arrive in time to experience your escape." Sebastian added. "Different Claude." I grabbed a file myself, flipping to the boys body. "Could this boy.. have been possibly helping?"
