y/n's pov:

   MY heart dropped.

"Y-Y/d/n Y/l/n? Are you being serious right now?" I know that's probably not the best thing to ask my doctor but I seriously couldn't believe it. Why does he always have to show up when I don't want him to?!

Dr. Veèle refrained from looking at me weirdly, clearing his throat. "Yes, Ms. Y/l/n. I'm being serious." I could hear the amusement in his voice. I couldn't blame him, he had no idea who my dad was to me and what we've gone through.

I glanced at Alexa, who was looking between me and my doctor, confused.

She noticed my eyes on her but I quickly turned my attention back to the man still standing at the door.

"I'll give you girls some time. There's about 30 minutes of visitation left, so I suggest only spending about 15." He gave a polite smile before leaving and shutting the door behind him.

Alexa was quick to rush over to me, cupping my cheeks into her soft hands. "Y/nn, thank God you're okay. I'm so sorry this happened." She pecked both my cheeks and then pulled back. I smiled a little but couldn't help but sigh.

how do i let her down easy?

"I already know what you're thinking, Y/n." This made me look back at her. "What do you mean?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows; physically demonstrating my confusion.

"I know you want her," My stomach sank at the tone of her voice. "I can see it in your eyes." She smiled, almost sadly.

"I'm sorry for ever pursuing anything in the first place. I had a feeling this was a bad idea in the beginning but — I didn't listen to it. I wanted you, I still want you, but I understand I can't have you." I couldn't help but frown.

At a loss of words, the silence was brief before she spoke again. "There's no hard feelings, Y/nn. We were never meant to be." She smiled softly. It never reached her eyes. "I see that. I'm okay with that."

"I'm sorry, Lex." Is all I could get out. I watched the actress look down at her feet, smiling sadly but it could easily be mistaken as a frown.

"It's okay," Her voice cracks. She looks back up and gives me another toothless smile — like she was trying to reassure me and herself. I could see the water build up in her eyes. "like I said, I saw it coming." She looks down again and clears her throat.

"I still love you, though," This made her look up. "I don't want this to, like, make things awkward between us or something. We can still be friends." I tried to smile through her, reassuring her in a way.

I watched a smile slowly grow on her face. "I love you too, Y/nn." This time she actually seemed a little happier. I opened my arms to her and we shared a brief hug.

"Oh, and what's the deal with your dad? I saw him. He didn't look at anybody — not even Lexi and Jamison." I sighed.

"He's a prick. He thinks he did right by me but he has no fucking clue. I can't stand him or Y/m/n." She winced. "I see. Trouble in paradise." I nodded.
