Danica released a sigh of relief as she exited from one of the Covention center's restrooms, the young witch pulling her hood over her head to conceal her features again once she stepped out.
"Well, that was the most relaxing break I've ever had all day without wanting to remember a single second of it." She remarked to herself with a faint smile. Her expression immediately morphed into a slight wince when she immediately processed what she just said. "...good thing Eda's not here."
After stretching her arms out for a bit, she began to make her way back towards Eda and Luz when a group of Hexside students brushed by her while heading towards the opposite direction. As they passed by each other, the young witch managed to catch the conversation they were exchanging with one another.
"Hey, did you hear about Amity?"
"I heard some human challenged her to a witch's duel awhile ago!"
"Whoa, I wonder how it's all gonna go down... Especially when humans can't do magic at all."
"Only one way to find out! The whole Covention is gonna be there watching everything!"
"No way we're missing this!"
Danica was quick to freeze and grimace with noticeable dread on her features as soon as their words entered her pointed ears, the group of students eagerly chattering amongst themselves as they made their way deeper in the Covention center.
Oh right...
The witch's duel between Luz and Amity...
The hooded witch squeezed her eyes shut and massaged the bridge of her nose, her expression flickering with frustration and exhaustion.
Why was this happening...?
After the incident with Eda's curse yesterday, she thought everything would be much calmer today in comparison to that experience. Apparently, it was just wishful thinking.
Had she remembered that today was the Covention, she would have stayed home this time...
"First I get dragged to the Covention, then I see Lilith, and now Luz has to fight Amity in a witch's duel...?" A disgruntled Danica muttered under her breath as she passed by a stall that had multiple juice boxes reading "APPLE BLOOD" on its table. She swiftly grabbed one while brushing past it and did not hesitate to stab its straw into the box so she could drink it.
The young witch then turned around a corner to enter an empty hallway and sat down on one of the boxes that were conveniently placed there, making sure she was hidden well in the shadows.
After surveying her surroundings for a brief moment to check for anyone passing by, she reached up and pulled her hood back down when she saw that the coast was clear, allowing her violet curls to cascade down her back once again.
As soon as Danica placed her lips on the end of the straw for the apple blood box, she immediately recoiled in disgust at the...unexpected texture of the drink in her mouth. "Ugh, what now...?!" She irked, furrowing her brows in annoyance. She twisted the small box in her hand to read the back, her eyes gleaming in the shadows when they landed on the expiration date. "...is this seriously five days past its due date? Why are they even handing these out in the first place?!"
A groan escaped her lips as she promptly slouched in her seat, her expression resembling one of disgruntled resignation while she supported her head in her hand with her elbow on her knee. "Lovely..." She grumbled under her breath, gazing down at the apple blood box with half-lidded eyes. "This day can't possibly get any worse..."
