Chapter 32: I've Got A Migraine

As someone who has lived next to the preserve her whole life, I'm not a fan. There's a lot of tree's, animals, pointy things and now I'm not as oblivous to the world, werewolves.

So when I find myself running through it at God knows what time in the morning, I'm a little freaked out.

"Oh shit, oh shit, fuck, shit." I mutter breathlessly as I dodge my way through the trees.

Why do I feel like I'm being chased?

Oh, right.

I am.

I turned my head for a split second to get a glimpse of two bright, blue eyes staring right back at me. Making me want to just scream then and there by the look behind the eyes- whatever it is, looks angry and well, murderous.

I start to gain more speed and dodge another tree but this time there are roots coming out from the bottom of the tree, winding around discarded branches. My eyes widen as one wraps around my ankle, tugging me down to the ground before letting me go.

What happened to 'nature is our friend'? I'm calling bullshit if I die.

I quickly move to stand up but stop when I hear a low growl and breathing hitting the front of my face. Oh.

I squeeze my eyes shut, I'm just accepting the fact I'm about to get brutally ripped apart by some animal now. I shouldn't, but I feel strangely calm now.

After what feels like forever, when in reality it was probably just a couple seconds, and nothing has happened I open my eyes to find the thing just standing in front of me, almost looking at me as scared as I am of it.

I take this moment to look it over, blue eyes, grey coat- I swear its just a coyote and not a wolf-

I groan as I turn over, slapping my hand over my alarm clock trying to find the snooze button, off button- a something button to get the damn thing to shut up.

That dream was weird, like crazy realistic.

"Mia! You better be getting out of bed!" My mom calls out, probably from the front room.

I groan yet again, "I am mom! I just woke up, give me time!" I yell back, only receiving silence in return.

I savour the last few minutes of paradise I have in my sheets before facing the fact that today I have to be at school, all day with no skipping. So that means all day in the same building as someone who could probably kill me then literally make my death look like some kind of animal attack without getting his shoes dirty.

Maybe I shouldn't mention animal attacks after the dream I just had... I shudder, shaking off those thoughts and climb out of bed and trek my way down the stairs and to the kitchen passing my mom on the way.

My head protests as I open the refrigerator, the light almost blinding me. God, of course I would have a headache today too.

Can someone just cancel school?

Indefinitely would be preferable but I will take what I can get.

I huff and slam the fridge shut, ignoring the dull growing pain in my head and take a seat at the island, burying my head in my arms.

"Mia? You okay?"

I don't have to look up to know its my mom as she places a hand on my shoulder, taking a seat next to me.
