"Jesus is that kid up there again?" Stiles groaned the next morning, his head resting on a box.

"Just leave him... he will... i don't know, he'll tire himself out sooner or later" Mia yawned, trying to find a comfortable position for her head on Robins lap, the fluorescent lights of the elevator keeping her awake. She looked up at the roof, Dustin's footsteps pacing back and fourth "but.... Thinking of it, someone should go and check on him..." she sighed just as he yelled something. Everyone looked between each other before all eyes fell on Steve, he huffed,

"Me! Why is it always me!" He rolled his eyes, slowly climbing up to meet him, "hey," he grunt as he got to the top of the hatch, only his head sticking up "gotta take it easy on that thing. Gonna drain the battery"

"The mall just opened"

"So?"

"So someone could be in range"

"What, do you think, Petey the mall cop is gonna rappel down here and save the day?" He said, sarcasm lacing his voice,

"All right, why are you such a cranky pants after," dustin started as Steve lifted himself up onto the roof with him "getting to spend the night with Mi—"

"Shh! Jesus Christ. Will you just give up on your creepy dream already?"

"I heard you guys talking all night"

"Yeah. We were trying to figure out a way to open up the door while you children were asleep,"

"They're talking about you," Robin lightly whispered down to Mia, making her slightly jump,

"Yeah I'm aware..." she whispered back, turning her attention from the hatch.

"What where you guys actually talking about last night?" She asked, pushing the both of them up,

"Just life really.. I guess?" Mia shrugged, dragging her feet towards the buttons, mashing them yet again,

"Just life?" Robin furrowed, leaning on the wall next to her,

"Yeah. Like... well we spoke about, me and Eddie and he told me about the girl he likes" she shrugged,

"Mhm.... Who does he like?"

"Someone at school. He wouldn't say who... and he was really brief about it"

"Right...." Robin nodded, but quickly turned as she heard the sound of water "hey! Can you re-direct your stream please!" She yelled up to Steve, and the stream moved just slightly to the left, making Mia chuckle,

"He re-directed"

Not even a few minutes later Erica had practically come to life and grabbed one of the canisters of green stuff, banging it continuously on the table. Both older girls watched her, confused as Stiles practically jump to his feet and snatch it from her,

"Hey, hey! Be careful, careful, careful! We don't even know what that is!" He scolded,

"Exactly. It could be useful" Erica sassed,

"Useful how?" Mia crossed her arms, leaning back on the wall,

"We can survive a long time down here without food, but if the human body doesn't get water, it will die."

Robin grabbed the canister from Stiles and shuffled it between her hands "I hate to break it to you, but this is not water."

"No. But it's a liquid, and if it comes down to me drinking that shit or dying of thirst. I drink." Erica smirked, trying to grab the canister that was being past from Robin and Stiles's outstretched hands. Though Mia got quickly distracted by the distant sound of electronics whirling, she slowly stalked towards the wall pressing her ear against it, the others in the room definitely hearing the noise too as they turned to watch her.

"Shit..." she murmured quietly, speeding to the hatch and poking her head out "we've got company" she told the two boys, who just looked between each other, "hello!! What are we supposed to do!!" She snapped, clapping her hands impatiently at them.

"I... uh" Steve flustered, turning to Dustin, who only sighed,

"Everyone up here..."

"Oh yeah... yeah and just hope they don't send the elevator back up?"

"Ok shut up." Mia shook her head, poking her head back into the elevator "ok... we are hiding up here, come on, come on" she flailed her arms around, gesturing for stiles to help Erica towards her "ok, just grab that beam... yeah that one. And hold your other hand out for Steve he'll help you up" she directed, slowly pushing the young girl up the hatch,

"Excuse you, I can do this myself" she sassed, ignoring Steve's outstretched hand, but she instantly slipped,

"Yeah see, just listen to us alright... grab Steve's hand" they all watched as the stubborn young girl nodded her head, and grasped Steve's hand tightly, letting him help her up onto the roof. The rest took it in turns to climb up, stiles being the last, his foot only just making it out of sight as the door opened. The six watched as two Russians walked in and out, in and out of the room, carrying one box at the time out of the elevator.
Mia hadn't realised that she was sat so close to Steve, trying to find protection as her hands rested on his body, wishing that the men's voices weren't making the breath hitch in her throat, pure, real, unnecessary fear ruining through her. Steve pulled his face away from the window like grate they surrounded and held his finger up to his lips, signalling for everyone to stay quiet. He looked between everyone, his facial expressions hardening when he focused on Erica practically hugging the canister she was once trying to drink.
The men took their time taking boxes out but once Steve and stiles had noticed them actually leaving, they both crawled towards the hatch, jumping down with the canister firmly in their grasp, they both grunted as they hit the ground, jamming the green liquid between the floor and the practically shut door.

"Let's go" Steve yelled up to the rest of the group who had all jumped down to join him, they took it one by one to crawl out as fast as they could "go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go" "Henderson, go, go." "Come on Buckley..." "ok.. can you two fit together this isn't going to hold much longer..." he stressed as he looked to the siblings stood together, they nodded and calculated their moves, both of them managing to crawl through under together. They quickly turned on the knees and pressed their hands to the bottom of the door, using all their strength to hold it up for Steve to crawl towards them. His head was barely past the door when the canister shattered, the green liquid pouring out and burning through the metal flooring. The six scrambled to their feet,

"Jesus Christ..."

"Ooh!"

Mia gasped and looked down at Erica, shaking her by her head "do you still want to drink that?"

Due to all the panic and anxiety they all just felt by trying not to get crushed by an elevator door, none of them had looked behind them, no one had seen the huge, practically endless tunnel.

"Holy mother of god" Dustin huffed, drawing all their attention to the tunnel,

"You got that just about right kid..." stiles sighed,

Steve looked next to him, catching the twisted look on Mias face, he was surprised; not thinking that a load of Russians could scare her more than Inter-dimensional monsters,

"You ok?" He whispered softly, leaning onto her side,

"Could be better" she whispered back, grasping his arm gently, he smiled and nodded, moving his gaze back to the tunnel

"Well... hope you guys are in good shape." He sighed, tapping Mia's hand as he walked past the rest of the group, pushing his way between Robin and Dustin, his hand colliding with Dustin's chest "looking at you, roast beef" he said briefly not stopping his pace. "Let's go, come on."
Mia nodded, her arms stretching to push the younger two ahead as she looked back at the hole still being burnt into floor before looking down what seemed to be the endless tunnel... it was going to be one hell of a long walk...
