ALESSANDRO'S POV

So this is what it feels like to go to a public university.

Don't get me wrong, I've spent my years in college studying and graduating in our special way or system if you may call it.

In our world, men and women who participate in college, continuing their studies mostly use it for bigger business for the mafia, while one can hold a gun and kill, one has the mind and skills which why I decided to be both, to be a part of it, to lead the Italian Mafia yet major in something I enjoy and build a business aside of the assassinations and weapons.

Akila and I are on a tour, apparently we're both here for a trip, Akila to continue her senior year and me who should be starting a master degree.

Our story is simple, we got kicked out of our country and landed here, in Constata, Romania.

People have given us slight doubts but they were only a few and now we're led to the main library of this place where I believe students must be since it's early in the morning.

The huge wooden doors fly open ahead of us and I watch the rest of our tour each go separate ways to their different shelves of books, history, science, technology, language and so much more collected and kept in such an area.

I've always admired the idea of libraries, a place where you can find yourself written on paper, a place where you can find your reflection, your mirror, your emotions and thoughts with dark ink on trees years before our generation, by the greater, by our grandparents who sacrificed for us and now we get to read about it, we get to relive their time even if it's imaginary, even if it passed, taking their blood away but not their words, not their life they've got to witness, the things they've got to go through day after another, either by choice or force.

It's a pretty small university after all, we chose something on the low to not draw unwanted attention which could end up badly.

And these kids are still young for death. When I was their age, I was about to rule a world wide empire while they're out there just finishing their physics test.

How different our worlds are, how we each live in a twisted way that only you understand and take in every punch for the sake of living.

"Stay with me" Akila grabs my arm and pulls me behind a book wall. I look around if there's someone near us and meet her gaze when I'm sure everything is clear. I take a moment to appreciate Akila's change of clothes, she looks so dissimilar with glasses and light fabric against her skin, she doesn't look like herself but she certainly looks like one of those college girls, big glasses and sunshine personality.

"Yeah I don't like me either'' she says in annoyance and sighs at her decisions. "I am ten times more hideous, look at me" I'm wearing a pair of old gray trousers with a turquoise shirt tucked into my pants and a white cotton vest on top.

She takes a decent look and holds back a laugh. It's a part of the act, to laugh more, to show feelings and speak louder which we both knew would be a really hard task.

It's not the plan, it's not close to why we came here but it's acting like a human, cooperating as a student who falls in love with their professors, reading night and day about spicy romance books.

I know it will be weird for us and mostly for Akila but I've already figured if we want to benefit one thing out of this journey for our personal life, it would be this, being able to stand somewhere in public, breathing without worry, without someone taking that breath away.
