We both crouch forward and rush toward the alleyway where the small window is unlocked, which thankfully, still is.
Dropping the bags on the ground for the moment, he takes out a set of gloves. He gives me a certain look as if it should be obvious it's for fingerprints, but I never asked. He must think I'm an idiot with the way he keeps thinking I don't have a clue about any of this.
Taking the gloves he offers me, I ignore the glance he gives me while sliding them over my hands. I've just about had enough of him.
He gets on his knees, opens the window slowly, and sticks his head inside to make sure he can't see or hear anything.
When he pulls his head out, he sits on his heels and reaches into his pants pocket to fish out a small flashlight.
"Stay close to me," he instructs with a strict tone, sliding through the window and landing on his feet once inside the basement.
I follow after him but first toss the bags inside. Once he moves the bags out of the way, I slide into the window and land directly on my feet, too. That seems to surprise him. It surprises me, too, considering I battled so hard climbing over the fences from hell.
"Let's go upstairs first." He comments, placing two fingers on the earpiece in his ear. "We're moving upstairs. Keep an eye out and report back if anything looks suspicious. If we need a distraction, make sure Twix and her crew are ready." He waves the small flashlight around the room before clicking it and sliding it back into his pocket.
Jimin responds in both of our ears. "Rodger that, good luck,"
Jungkook begins taking the stairs while I carry one bag and follow behind.
When reaching the door at the top of the stairs, he opens it and sticks his head out slowly, listening for any kind of sound or movement.
"Stick to my heels, Vee. You'll get yourself killed if you're not careful—"
I cut him off and walk past him without a care in the world. I stop walking when I stand in front of him with my arms crossed over my chest.
"Stop belittling me. You keep saying you won't hesitate to leave me for the police, but who's to say I won't hesitate to turn your ass in? I'd watch my mouth if I were you because despite what you think you know about me, I am capable of walking to the police station and exposing the Street Killer. If you don't believe me, we can kindly stop this mission, and I can show you the way to your immediate jail cell."
"Stop messing around. We don't have time for you to be acting childish." When he tries to move past me, bumping my shoulder rudely in the process, is when I lose it.
I drop my bag and grab his shoulder to make him look back at me, then, with some of my strength, I forcefully push him against the wall. I place both of my hands on either side of his muscular arms and keep my position while staring darkly into those eyes of his. My expression is anything but kind.
"If anyone is acting childish here, it's you. You had the nerve to test me and tell me I was a pushover without knowing anything about me. If that's true, I guess you're a dog for this stupid cause you're involved in. Nothing but a canine who comes running once called. So yeah, call me a pushover all you want, but at least I'm not a bitch who obeys his master's orders."
