Clay took out his phone and scrolled through his playlists, deciding to just press shuffle and deal with whatever Spotify
gave him. He looked up at his food and just pushed it away, he had something this morning so he decided against
eating.

He looked up at the sound of chanting from afar, "Karl! Karl! Karl!" It kept going and going, it getting annoying
so Clay turned up his volume.

After the chanting subsided, Clay noticed someone walking up to him. He looked up and saw Karl "great.. what does
this decrepit hamster want..?"

Karl held his hands behind his back "hey, my names Karl an-"

"Can you talk a little quieter please?" Clay asked.

Karl nodded "how's this?" He asked, lowering his voice. Clay made a hand gesture, "how's this?" He asked, his
voice barley audible. Clay made the hand gesture again, Karl's mouth moved but no sound came out.

"Perfect" Clay said, as he turned up the volume of his headphones.

Even though his volume was up, he could hear the people who chanted Karl's name start to uproar a boisterous
laugh, Karl returning to his table disappointed.

Clay knew exactly what they were doing, they were trying to make Clay like them. Clay was sort of the grump of the
school, people never saw him smile, laugh, or hang out with anyone. He always had a sour mood and didn't like anything
but reading and music.

People would place bets to see who could make Clay like them, but they all failed. There wasn't anything wrong with
Clay, he was just, unique.

Today, he heard a different name being chanted, a different person walking up to him. He looked up to see a short
brunette boy with brown eyes and a spread of blush on his face. Clay must've been mistaken, but he felt something
inside him start to burn bright.

"Hey.. my names George, I was wondering if I could sit with you?" He asked, Clay sitting in silence for a minute.

It seemed like some eyes from the cafeteria turned towards the two boys, as if waiting for Clay to whoosh him off or
just straight up leave from annoyance. "Um.. I guess.. do what you want." He looked down at his phone, noticing
from the corner of his eye that some of the kids in the lunch area had shocked expressions.

George sat down, swinging his feet under the table "I hear you don't like people too much, would you like to
hang out with me?" George asked, Clay looking up.

He was deciding if he should kick him or not, deciding against it in the end "I don't care" he looked down at his
phone again "he talks a lot..."

George's eyes lit up "can you tell me about yourself?" He wondered.

"Hm.. he looks kind of cute like that.." "why?" Clay raised his eyebrow.

George smiled "just curious, you are the mYsTiCaL ClAy" George rolled his eyes.

Clay cracked a bit of a smile, and let out a small laugh, George's eyes going wide. "Why am I being so weird.."
Clay thought "okay, fine" he said, returning to his neutral face "my names Clay, my favorite colors green, my favorite
subject in school is history, and I like cats" he said vaguely, making sure not to tell everything.

George's smile grew wider "green huh? I like blue better, it's the only color that I can see properl- oh! Did
I mention I'm colorblind! And I like cats too- dogs are cool and all- but cats are more sophisticated and quiet-
But dogs are cool!" He said quickly, as if he wasn't expecting Clay to be this friendly.

Clay looked down at his phone "you talk a lot" he said.

George covered his mouth and smiled "do I?" He giggled "sorry, it's just, no one really gets anywhere with you,
and it's fun to learn about people" he said, reaching his feet out.

Clay looked down and intertwined his feet with George's, getting a pretty flustered response "annoying, but
sweet" he said with a smile, looking at George like he had turned on a light that illuminated the dark.

George smiled, his blush growing more on his puffy cheeks.

As George sat down at his lunch table with his friends, he was suffocated in questions. Nick grabbed his shoulder
"Dude! You talked to him for eight minutes! That's eight minutes more than anyone else!" He yelled.

Zak chimed in "yeah! I never thought the loud mouth and quiet kid would get along but" he shrugged "you learn
new sh1t every day huh?"

"Language Zak!" Darryl yelled, Zak letting out a laugh.

"I only said it to piss you off Darry" he smiled.

"Language" Nick wiggled his eyebrows.

George listened to his friends yell, looking down at his hands to see the small piece of paper Clay had
given him.
