Phil POV

Phil ran a hand through his sweaty hair. "It's been over two days... and he still has barely said a word." He couldn't help but feel that they failed him. They should have saved him sooner, he only wished they could have.

"Well, I've kept up my end of the alliance. I suppose my team and I will be on our way." Dream stood up quickly, tearing off one more piece of bread.

"You really don't care about him?"

"Why should I? He's your son." the blonde scoffed. "The only reason we stuck around was because the forest was full of guards last night, at least the parts where are base is."

"He's not my son." Phil protested, even though he knew it was a lie.

Dream rolled his eyes, "Keep telling yourself that. Maybe some day it will be become true." He turned towards the hallway, intent on getting the rest of his team.

The man glared at him, "What is that supposed to mean?" He grabbed the masked man's arm, preventing him from leaving the conversation like that.

Dream turned to face him, a smirk present on his face. "I'm just saying it was predictable. As soon as you offered to take the prince, I knew you would grow attached to him. After all, you said the same thing about Wilbur and Techno."

"I-" But he stopped, going back to the moments when he found Techno and Wilbur. A night of hospitality turned into a week and then a lifetime. He hadn't even stopped to consider that Tommy was the same way. Chuckling, he admitted, "I hate it when your right."

The masked man laughed, "You must hate me all the time then."

------------

Wilbur POV

Wilbur sat beside the sleeping boy, softly strumming his guitar. He plucked the strings for no particular reason. His fingers drifted across the instrument, leaving him no reason to stop them. Techno sat beside him, watching in fascination.

"I wished you played more often." Techno commented, his eyes not leaving the instrument.

The brunette hummed in acknowledgement. "I'm not that good..."

"You're the best musician I've ever heard."

Wilbur couldn't stop the smile that spread on his face. Techno didn't say things like that often, and when he did it was always in a joking tone. But this time his voice was genuine. He looked at Techno with bright eyes. "Really?"

Techno opened his mouth to respond, only for a whimper to come to Tommy. Immediately the brothers were alarmed. Not another nightmare. The blonde began to twist and turn, calling out for anyone.

"Mother... Wait! No! I-I didn't mean to! I- Please!" Wilbur was by his side in an instant, his heart nearly shattering in his chest. He gently shook the boy, wanting to save him from whatever hell he was trapped in.

"Toms, wake up! Tommy-"

"No! Not you too!" Tommy screamed even louder.

Wilbur's heart began to beat faster as he shook the boy more forcefully. "Wake up! Tommy, you're dreaming! You're safe!"

The brunette had never been so relieved to see those bright blue eyes. Tommy sat up, searching every square inch of the room. Panicked, his eyes fell on Wilbur. "I-" The words barely formed in his mouth as he tackled Wilbur in a hug.

The brunette fell backwards in surprise. Confused, his wrapped his arms around the boy. Exchanging a look with Techno, he began, "Toms-"

"You were all dead! And it was all my fault! I-I couldn't save you..." Tears pricked his eyes as he looked at the older boy. "I-I couldn't do it..." He buried his face in Wilbur's chest, attempting to muffle his sobs.

Techno bit his lip, glancing at Wilbur. He gently began to comb his fingers through the boy's golden hair. It always helped to comfort him through nightmares, he could only hope it would work for Tommy too.

The prince leaned into his touch, relaxing him even slightly. "It was just a nightmare Tommy, nothing like that would ever happen." Techno reassured him.

Tommy shook his head, pulling away from him slightly. "But what if it does... I don't want to hurt anyone else..." He moved away from Wilbur, fidgeting with his fingers.

Wilbur didn't understand what he was talking about. "Anyone else? What do you mean?"

The blonde bit his lip, clearly not wanting to admit the truth. But Wilbur wasn't going to let it go that easily.

"Tommy..."

Techno stared at the boy's expression, his eyes widening in realization. "Toms, you're not a bad person. Any death that has happened, was not your fault." Tommy looked away, refusing to meet his eyes. "Tommy, look at me." Amber eyes met blue for a moment. "You're father is the problem, not you." Tommy nodded, looking away once more.

Wilbur couldn't help but wonder if the words meant anything to him.
