Third Person

"Diamond! Diamond wake up" Diamond felt someone shaking her.

"What..." she murmurs, rubbing her eyes.

"Diamond looks up and sees Lionel. She jerks up from her bed, shock taking over her sleepiness. She takes a moment to scan his face: Red eyes, with tears threatening to fall out. His eyes were droopy with exhaustion, his hands trembling.

"Lionel? You're here." She whispers, blinking, not accepting her eyesight. "How did you-"

"Why did you betray me?"

"What?"

Lionel clutches her duvet. "You're getting married to someone else! You're getting married to someone who's not me!"

Diamond's mouth opens, but no words come out. She stares at Lionel with her eyes wide open, not understanding what was happening.

Lionel is here?

"Lionel I can explain.." She breathes, reaching out to his hands. "I don't want to get married. It's just a stupid arrangement that my parents planned. You know who I love. I love you so much that I would never betray you. Please believe me." She finishes, with a shaky voice.

Lionel removes himself from Diamond's grasp. "If you love me so much why aren't you stopping the wedding? What about us Diamond? How can you do this to us? Why? Just why?" He pleads, tears falling down his cheeks.

"You have to believe me!" Diamond yells hysterically, kicking off the duvet and standing on her feet. "I love you, Lionel. Only you."

"Yet you are still marrying him..."

Diamond walks over to him and tries to touch his arm, which he jerks away.

"See this?" He asks, pointing at his heart. "You broke it. It's shattered completely!"

Diamond remains silent, staring at his heart in pain.

No, I'm hurting him. Why am I doing such an awful thing?

Lionel aggressively wipes the tears off his face. "Congratulations on your wedding Diamond. Live a happy life." He mumbles and turns his heel and begins walking away.

"What Lionel no!" Diamond yells, trying to follow him. Please don't leave me! I-I love you so much."

Her eyes fill with tears, clouding her eyesight. Diamond stumbles through her bedroom, trying to catch up with the disappearing silhouette. She stumbles on the leg of her dressing table and falls to the floor, tears flowing out nonstop.

"Don't leave me." She pleads, through tears.

"You can't leave like this."

Diamond wakes up with a jolt. Her clothes are damp from sweat and dry tears are stuck on her cheeks. She looks over to her clock; 2 am it reads. She lets out a heavy sigh and lowers herself back into her pillows starting another sleepless night.

~~~~~
A beautiful girl stood in front of the mirror. A beautiful girl, broken inside. Diamond looked marvelous in her wedding gown. Anyone who saw her would think she was the happiest, luckiest bride yet. But that was on the outside. On the inside, she felt nothing. She was numb. Numb from crying. Numb from trying to contact Lionel before her wedding. Numb from everything. In a few hours, she will be marrying a person she doesn't know nor loves. All that to please the journalists.
"Oh, my daughter you look utterly beautiful." Mrs Miller gushes, fixing her daughter's sleeves.
Diamond lets out a forced thank you, and moves her gaze back to her reflection.
Mrs Miller shuffles slightly, not knowing how to react to her daughter's somber mood.
"Please try to make the best out of this wedding." She mumbles, massaging her daughter's hand.
"The best out of this wedding?" She repeats, staring at her mom in disbelief. "I am marrying someone I don't love yet I have to make the best of it? For who? The journalists?"
"For yourself too. Believe me, dear, Liam is a good man. He will take care of you."
Diamond releases herself from her mother's grip. "I don't want Liam, mother." She hisses sharply. "I want Lionel. He should be the one I'm marrying."
Mrs Miller takes a step backward. "Well, he isn't here."
Diamond passes an incredulous look toward her mother.
"You are going to make the best out of this wedding." She instructs. "Now contain yourself. The ceremony is about to begin."
And with that, her mother exits the room.
Diamond practically jumps back to her seat, tears streaming out from her face. How could her mother be so cruel? Here she is, her heart in pain and yet she doesn't care. Why couldn't they understand that she did not want to be a part of this?"
The door opens softly, revealing Aya, who was dressed in her maid of honor dress. She walks quickly towards her friend, and wraps her arms around her, making her friend's tears pour out endlessly.
Diamond stood emotionless at the wedding altar. She hadn't even bothered to look at her soon-to-be husband. She just stared out of nowhere, waiting for the ceremony to end.
"You may kiss the bride." The priest murmurs.
Diamond lifts her head to see Liam walking towards her. She softly lifts her veil and leans down to her. Diamond closes her eyes and braces herself for the impact. But it never came. She feels Liam's breath fanning her mouth but notices him moving back after a few seconds.
He didn't kiss me?
The crowd did not seem to notice that as they all stoop up, cheers roaring out. The newly wedded couple were on a farther angle, making it difficult for their guests to notice the 'kiss.'
Liam looks over the crowd, a fake smile prominent on his face. He takes Diamond's arm and encloses it into his, both staring at the camera.
I'm fake married now.
