You're not a mistake.

So, the new episode of the Sun and Moon Show posted today has officially made my week. My brain has been super fixated on the idea of Eclipse being or becoming good, so I feel like I was given a most wonderful gift! There's just so much about that episode that I absolutely adore, and I really hope we get to see that alternate universe again! It would break my heart if this was just a one and done deal.

Anyhoo, I'll stop yapping and present the art!

Here we are! I kind of mashed up the moment where Eclipse tells Lunar he's not a mistake with the little headpat, because I just wanted to

Here we are! I kind of mashed up the moment where Eclipse tells Lunar he's not a mistake with the little headpat, because I just wanted to. :3

This is also my first time drawing Lunar in his new body! This time around, I stuck close to the design of the model itself because I just adore it, it's so cute! The only major change was his neck ruffles becoming a slouchy bow, because I could not draw the softer looking ruffles I had wanted for him.

After that, I just supplemented his digitrade legs with some markings to indicate his toes and make his feet look like paws. I really couldn't help it- the furry hat, the tail and the already animal-esque legs really have my brain calling back to Toy Sun.

For Eclipse, I had a heck of a time getting his expression to look okay. I mean- jeeze! I was struggling for ages, shifting the irises and changing the shapes of the eyes and moving the eyebrows up and down up and down, changing the mouth shape to see if that would help, then I eventually decided to sharpen the angle of the eyes and slant the irises a bit like Lunar's are, which did help. It's not my favorite piece of Eclipse, but it's satisfactory.

After the struggle on his face, I also decided to change his rays a little and toy with a new idea I'd been entertaining for a bit. See, in the show, Sun occasionally messes with his rays and they end up stuck at weird angles for the rest of the video, so I wanted to see what it could look like if either he (or Eclipse) could slouch/slant certain rays like animal ears. I didn't want to exaggerate it too much, but I think it looks good! (If you're not sure, than the effect was used on the upper right and left rays on Eclipse here.)
