" In which class you are? " He asked gritting his teeth at her.

His mother was pestering him to meet a "Very Good Girl" For a possible marriage. When he was here looking at the girl, he was mad at his mom for trying to marry him off to probably an underaged girl.

Meera scrunched her nose at him. She did have a question-answer round with the two guys she met earlier but this question came out of the syllabus."Excuse me? " she retorted, her brows furrowed.

Class? Seriously?

"You heard me the first time. Didn't you? " He raised an eyebrow at her.

"I have already given my B. Tech Final exams. And to let you know I also have a pre-placement offer. So I will be an office-going woman soon. I am not a child to go to school that you are asking about my class " She narrowed her eyes at his amused expression.

Guess he was not expecting this.

"Considering your lilliput height and malnourished body I thought you were a school-going child" He remarked, a smirk playing on his lips.

Now he was enjoying getting her all worked up.

Such a meanie! Anger surged through Meera.
She has never met such a mannerless human in her life. He was bluntly body-shaming her.

Glaring at him, she turned to go inside her house to say no to his marriage proposal. She would never marry such a rude man.

Rayaan smirked knowing well that she was going to refuse this proposal. Dusting off an imaginary speck from his blazer he followed her inside.

It was not that hard, He thought.

It was a treat to watch her huffing and puffing in anger.

He followed her inside, mentally smirking at his planning. He would say "yes" While the Girl will say no.
Aw, Poor Rayaan. He got rejected. He will get some sympathy from his mother. Then at least for a year or two, he will show his crocodile tears, telling his mother how the rejection has hurt him so badly. He can gladly buy more time for himself before mentally preparing himself for this marriage thing.

The devil in him was excited about the execution of his plan as he watched the girl answering his mother's questions.

After an hour-long session of talking, "We should leave now" Rasika said satisfied by Meera's answers.

Finally, the time came for Rayaan and his family to leave. Buttoning his blazer, Raayan got up and nobody but Meera heard him saying "lilliput" Under his breath.

Her nose flared up. It didn't look like it was meant to be a whisper. It was like he wanted her to hear it clearly.

Rayaan quickly sat inside the car as his back was on fire with someone's continuous glaring.

The Oberoi family left for their mansion.

Back at home, Rayaan's mother couldn't contain her curiosity. "She was sweet, right?" she asked eagerly, awaiting Rudra's response.

Sweet? Don't know about being sweet but she definitely looked cute while glaring at me as if she wanted to beat me up. Definitely, she wanted after the stunt I pulled.

"So? " She held his hand expectantly.

Rayaan was amused by her fascination with the girl.

"Yes, Mom. It's a yes from me. " He said making his mother smile cheekily at him.

His mother seemed surprised by his quick agreement. "I thought you would ask for some time to think it over, but you said yes so soon," she said thoughtfully. Before she could ponder further, Rayaan interjected, playing the age card, "I think you're right, Mom. I'm approaching 30, and all the good matches will be taken by then. I should get married soon. Besides, the girl seems nice." He knew he had played the age card well when his mother nodded in agreement.

"I hope they say yes too. Meera is such a nice girl. I really want to see you two together" Rasika was all hearty eyes imagining her son and daughter-in-law.

Although Rayaan felt a twinge of guilt, knowing that this dream would soon be shattered but he couldn't deny the relief that washed over him. There was no doubt that Meera would say no, especially after how he had treated her during their first meeting. Not that he wanted her to say yes.

"Finally, they met! Woohoo! " Meera squealed reading the ending of the book. She is an avid fan of Romcoms. A major part of her savings is spent on books and perfumes. Though she can read online, she prefers paperback. The enchanting fragrance of a new book is simply irresistible.

She rolled over the bed clutching the book to her chest. The couple was finally together after many ups and down. She was happy for them. Oh! She loves happy endings. However, she reads emotional stories once in a while but she doesn't like tragic stories. Meera believed that since life was already filled with enough miseries, there was no need to burden herself with more in her reading. For her, Reading is an escape. And she doesn't want to go back to the same world even in reading.

At least in fiction, she can be herself without any worry.

"Let's celebrate today, I will study from tomorrow" She stretched out her arms snuggling more into the mattress.

Seems like her procrastinator side is more active when she tries to study. Since she has got time, she was thinking of improving her skills before starting with her working journey but her procrastinator side is proactive after her exams are over.

Just as she was about to drift into a blissful slumber, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. Opening it, she found her mother standing there, wearing a radiant smile.

Meera's heart melted at the most beautiful sight in front of her. Just this smile. She can do anything for this smile.

Arching an eyebrow, Meera silently questioned the reason behind her mother's happiness.

"Rayaan said yes," her mother informed, her smile unwavering.

The news came as a shock to Meera. The same Rayaan who had made fun of her height had agreed to the marriage?

Meera's Mother shook her when even after 2 minutes she stayed still without reacting much.

Meera smiled softly at her mother, pinching her cheeks affectionately. "Mumma, if you approve of him, then it's a yes from me too," she said, her voice filled with sincerity.

Meera's mother tried to say something, but Meera interrupted, knowing that her mother would never make a wrong decision for her intentionally. "I trust you. Now, go," she gently urged her mother out of the room.

Locking the door, she leaned on it with a heavy heart.

She looked at the book, she finished and her wandering mind focused on Rayaan, he angered her in the afternoon and that is how she started with this book.

How could he suddenly agree to this marriage? They hadn't even had a proper conversation, except for his mocking remarks. Why and how had he changed his mind?
