I feel suffocated so when I felt like we'd traveled far enough from the mansion, I pushed the lid to get some air, in my disappointment, there was still a tarpaulin. I pushed it away and stood up. Siguro ay narinig ako ni Dafiah kaya ay binuksan nya din ang sa kanya.

"Trea," singhap nya.

Tinulungan ko sya na tuluyang makalabas ng barrel. Pinunasan ko ang pawis ko at sinalubong ang malamig na simoy ng hangin. Inilibot ko ang tingin sa madilim na daan. Kumunot ang noo ko nang mapansing hindi ito ang daan pabalik ng Rabelas.

"What's wrong?" Dafiah asked.

"This is not the right way back home."

Sinilip ko ang driver mula sa malabong salamin na naghaharang sa front seat at dito sa likod. Hindi nya pa kami napansin dito sa likod kaya ay sinenyasan ko si Dafiah na huwag gumawa ng kahit anong ingay.

"What are we going to do?" bulong nya nang makaupo kami sa likod ng barrel.

"I don't know," kinakabahang sagot ko.

"Where is he taking us?" natatakot nyang tanong.

"We're going in the opposite direction," I told her. "We should escape."

"Paano tayo makakatakas?"

"I know this is a crazy idea but..." I glanced over at the road. "We should jump... it's the only way."

"No, we're not," Dafiah disagreed.

The wind's gushing and the truck's engine is gaudy. We can take the advantage of escaping from all the distractions. We're in the middle of the road, the closest house I see is a few meters away, and this stark farm.

I tiptoed to the edge to check the roadway, it was cemented. I felt Dafiah's presence behind me so I turned to her. I don't know where the man is taking us. I'm full of doubts right now like if Papa really sent me the letter or if that guy's an impostor who use the letter to abduct us.

"We have to leave and go home on our own" pilit ko sa kanya.

"How?" she freaked out.

I instantly covered her mouth. "You're wearing a long sleeve and pants so just land slowly. You won't get scratches."

"How?" she freaked out again, this time in a tiny voice. "How to land slowly? What do you mean slowly?"

Hindi ko din alam. "Bumaba ka lang ng dahan-dahan, then roll over."

"Bloody mary!"

"Watch your mouth!" saway ko.

"Natatakot ako, Trea," naiiyak nyang tanggi.

"Baka kung saan tayo dalhin ng lalaking yan, Dafiah," naiiyak ko din na sabi. "It's my fault. I was excited about hearing from Papa but I think that guy," I jawed the guy. "He has his own agenda."

"I don't believe you," she implicated.

"What?" hindi makapaniwalang sabi ko.

"I don't want to jump. Mamamatay ako," aniya.

"Hindi. Just land carefully," I insisted.

"How can I land carefully!"

"I shouldn't have let you come with me!" galit na sabi ko sa kanya. "Sumama ka pa talaga. Iniwan na sana kita sa mansion!"

"So, it's my fault?" she rebutted. "I'm scared! Alam mo namang sasama ako sayo kasi wala naman akong ibang mapupuntahan at ikaw lang yung taong malapit sa akin dito. I can't trust Alfe's family after they did to you? But... If we have just stayed in the mansion, we won't be in danger. Hindi ka siguradong mapapagkatiwalaan natin ang lalaking yan. Umalis ka pa din! Bakit? Bakit gusto mong umalis ng mansion? Alfe had told you that he will just informed us once he heard from him."
