Chapter 39

Alfe makes my plan more unstable than it already is. He can easily make me change my mind. This is the reason why I don't want to give him a chance to talk to me or even let him come here. He has such an ominous tongue.

He kissed the side of my head as he cuddled me closer to him. "Tell me about your plans."

"I will study. I want to study," I honestly told him.

"Saan mo gustong mag-aral? Wala dito sa Buenacarte."

"Sabi ni Mama ay dadalhin nya ako sa Manila kasama sya. It's a good offer but I don't know if I could get a hundred percent chance to study."

"Why not?"

"Nahihiya akong pakiusapan sya at Tito Nicholas na mag-aaral ako. My alternative option is to apply for a scholarship. But since..." I smiled. "You offered, I can study without worries. You will pay for me."

He laughed. "Sure."

"Really?" gulat na tanong ko. "Biro lang. Mag-aapply pa din ako ng scholarship. I have to take my chances, kung hindi papalarin ay babalik ako sayo."

"So, I'm your second option," he complained in humor. "Well, that's better than not being part of your choices."

"Mahal yung tuition. Ayokong magkautang ng loob noh. Baka mag-away tayo tas isumbat mo sa akin ang lahat ng gastos."

"Hindi. Kaya ko ngang bayaran ka ng isang milyon kada buwan para manatili sa tabi ko."

Pinalo ko sya ng mahina sa dibdib at sinamaan ng tingin. "Isang libro sa isang buwan."

"Okay. What else?"

I hummed to think. "A date once a week and studying law is so stressful so you should take me on a trip once in a while."

"A date once a week? That's not so often," he complained.

"I have to study. So, once a week."

"Okay. I should start looking for a house then where we could stay."

"A house? We can just rent an apartment," I suggested.

"That's not a good deal," he answered.

"But a house is expensive," I reasoned.

"A sum for an indefinite rent will cost more. Buying our own is better."

"A house is too much." I can't clean. I'm not good at cleaning and doing household chores.

"Then I'll look for a flat or a penthouse for two which we could buy. I'll call my secretary to get me a brochure later. Kailan ba tayo aalis?"

"Can you leave anytime? How about your work? How about your family?"

"You are my family, Trea," he reminded me. "They have nothing to say about this. And... please stop thinking about anyone else. We're planning for our future now, on our own."

"Alright," I agreed.

"We can leave anytime, we can even leave now."

"I'll talk to Mama about this, at least to let her know about our plan. She would be surprised, I just told her we're done. Also, I'm waiting for Art to come back to get an update about Dafiah. Have you heard about what happened to her?" I asked.

"No. Tell me."

"Leonetti interrogated her and hurt her. I can't even pay her a visit since her Mama was so furious and blamed me. She had his operation last night and I am waiting for an update from Art."

Bigla nalang nagbago ang ekspresyon nya. He looked away but I was able to read his expression, it was like he did something bad like a crime.

"What is it?" puno ng suspitya kong tanong sabay hanap ng mga mata nya.
