Consider a whumpee who was held in four point restraints and can no longer fathom having anything touch their wrists and ankles.

Bracelets/anklets? No.

Tight socks? Absolutely not.

Maybe while Whumpee was held captive, Caretaker made them a friendship bracelet in thoughts that their good sign of friendship would bring them home sooner. Whumpee gets out of the hospital and can't help but feel guilty that they can't wear the bracelet their dear friend made so lovingly for them.

Caretaker graciously understands and says "hold on." and returns with a keychain/necklace chain so Whumpee can still hold onto the gift without being uncomfortable.
