PENNY
Two weeks later...
TWO weeks have passed since I finally confessed my feelings to Clifford. Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nagawa kong sabihin sa kaniya ang totoong nararamdaman ko para sa kaniya. I thought I would end up hiding my feelings for him forever. After all, I did manage to hide it from everyone for years.
But I would be lying if I wonʼt admit, I felt the weight on my chest subsided when I finally got to tell him about all the pain I suffered after years of loving him. Para bang gumaan ang pakiramdam ko pagkatapos ng napakaraming taon.
I sighed. I have no literal idea what would happen after that. Iʼm scared that we might end up treating each other just like how Remi and Jago ended up to be.
But though we might end up on that route, I regret nothing.
These past few weeks were a lot to handle but I could still manage. Naka-confine na si Cora sa Richmond Medical Center. Lagi ko siyang binabantayan while juggling duties at work in my familyʼs company. Sheʼs worried that I might overwork myself, but I always assure her that Iʼm okay. As long as I can make sure that sheʼs getting better, then I donʼt mind getting tired everyday.
I snapped out of my train of thoughts when Cora suddenly coughed loudly beside me. Napatingin naman ako sa kaniya at nakitang tinatakpan niya ang bibig niya habang umuubo.
"Shit! Tubig!" Due to panic, hindi ko napigilang mapasigaw kay Remi na nasa tabi ko lang din.
Taranta naman itong napalinga-linga sa paligid nang agad siyang inabutan ni Jago ng isang baso ng tubig. Dali-dali niya naman itong inabot sa 'kin kaya agad ko itong pinainom kay Cora.
Habang pinapainom si Cora, pasimple kong binalingan ng tingin ang dalawa pa naming kasama. My brows slightly raised when I saw how the two of them quickly avoided each otherʼs gazes when they met.
After finding out that Cora has leukemia and is confined here in the hospital, napansin ko kung paano sila ulit naging malapit sa isaʼt isa — but obviously, itʼs just utter bullshit.
Iʼve been observing them for quite a while now and based on what I saw, I can sense that theyʼre just putting up an act. Ang ipinagtataka ko lang talaga ay kung bakit kailangan pa nilang magkunwaring ayos sila, kung pwede namang magka-ayos na lang talaga sila.
Nang matapos na si Cora sa pag-inom ay inilagay ko ang baso sa katabi naming desk. Napatingin kami sa kaniya nang bigla na lang siyang humagikhik.
"Sorry, natawa lang. Grabe kasi kayo mag-panic. Naglabas lang naman ako ng plema," she chuckled.
"Gago," bulalas ni Remi kaya kahit ako ay natawa na lang din.
"Well, letʼs just say that weʼre your babysitters for today," I said, arms crossed while leaning on my seat.
