The Arado sat at a consistent altitude of around 10,500 feet, observing the water's surface from below the clouds,

Ernst focused on flying the plane, while Günter kept watch in the backseat,

Other than the extremely turquoise sea, nothing seemed to stand out to the two aviators.

The sea was unusually calm, however, it looked so calm that someone could draw it and it would be indistinguishable from the real thing.

"It's hard to see from this low altitude, can you pull higher?" Günter said.

"But if I do than it will be impossible to see without the giant clouds obscuring our vision." Ernst said, referring to the thick cloud cover.

And then, something emerged from the clouds, diving to a lower altitude.

"Günter! Down below!" Ernst said,

Günter turned around in his seat, an spotted the object,

"It looks like a biplane! But it's hard to make out from this distance," Günter said.

"Move the plane in closer.... It looks like it's alone" Günter said.


Ernst looked above the lone biplane to see if it was being orbited by any potential fighters using it as bait,

There were none.

But even with a seeming lack of escorts, Ernst only tentatively moved the Ar-196 towards the plane.
