CHAPTER 16

"I guess you've read what I sent to you" Reese said as he picked up the phone.

"Yeah, but I don't think we have enough information regarding the case to be honest" I replied as I looked at the pictures on my laptop.

"That's the issue I have also, there's no way we can know exactly what's going on except we go there ourselves" he replied as I heard him shuffling in the background.

" Did I call at a wrong time?" I asked as I put my phone on speaker and began to walk around.

"No, not at all. I just got home so I'm trying to organize the things I bought " he said as I heard him heave a sigh.

"You need to concentrate then, should we just chat?" I suggested.

"Sure" he replied simply.

Opening the chat, I saw that he had already sent a message.

Reese: Why don't we go there tomorrow and observe the people going in and out. Perhaps we can take some pictures too.

Me: Hm, Makes sense. I'll see if there's any type of building we can stay in so we don’t get caught.

Reese: Okay. Tomorrow at 6am then?, So we would see if there'll be any shipment.

Me: Okay. * Thumbs up emoji*

“Lunch is ready” I heard Ethan say in my head

I genuinely had forgotten that I was meant to come upstairs to take a nap, instead I had wasted my time stressing myself about my raging boner. Heaving a deep sigh, I closed my laptop, took my phone and headed downstairs.

"Did you get enough sleep?" He asked as I walked downstairs into the kitchen.

"I couldn't even close my eyes" I groaned as I sat on my usual chair.

"I wonder why" he murmured to himself as he glanced towards me.

"Work" I replied in a hurry.

"What?" He asked dropping my plate in front of me.

"I couldn't sleep because of some work stuff. I got an update regarding Antonio's drug business." As I called Antonio's name, his demeanor changed as he took a seat.

"What update?" He asked looking straight at me. I explained to him how Reese found the picture and the location in Carlos' office after which he sighed.

"What's wrong?" I asked noticing the change.

"I know that dock" he replied as he played with his fingers. Noticing that he wanted to say more, I kept quiet.

"There's something I didn't tell you when we met" he started avoiding my eyes.

"I never told you why I wanted to take down Antonio and why I was still roaming in the first place" he continued.

"What do you mean?" I asked as my heart pounded uncontrollably.
“What did he want to say that make him hesitate like this?” I wondered.

ETHAN'S POV
"It's a very very long story Kai" I said trying to make him uninterested.

“You're always here when I'm talking about what's bothering me. I should do the same" Kai said smiling gently at me
'Beautiful’ I thought to myself as I glanced at him. He was staring at me with so much focus.

"Everything started 6 years ago" I  started as it played in my head.
