Rose Tyler was a sucker for attention and romance. It quickly became apparent that, whilst flirting with everyone, she would get absolutely nowhere with Captain Jack Harkness. This seemed to be her reasoning for calling up her ex boyfriend, Mickey Smith, and inviting him to Cardiff.

EJ wasn't exactly thrilled about being in Wales; any place which had the people outnumbered by sheep, in this case three to one, didn't seem to be worth visiting. Never once had he had the urge to cross the border, and yet, the Doctor brought him in the Tardis. It was laughable, really. It was almost as bad as going to London every other trip.

They hadn't long landed when a knock came at the Tardis door. Jack beat Rose there, with a cocky grin, as he leant against one of the panels. It seemed trialling, especially because there was only one person who knew where they would be.

"Who the hell are you?" Jack scoffed, looking him up and down.

"What d'you mean, who the hell am I?" They heard Mickey's abrupt tone break their happy silence. "Who the hell are you?"

"Captain Jack Harkness. Whatever you're selling, we're not buying."

"Get out of my way!" Mickey pushed past him, leaving a dumbstruck look on Jack's face.

"Don't tell me. This must be Mickey."

"Here comes trouble!" The Doctor chuckled from his step ladder, one of the miners headbands stuck to him as he attempted to fix the lights. "How are you doing, Ricky boy?"

"It's Mickey!"

"Don't listen to him." Rose grinned. "He's winding you up."

"You look fantastic."

"I know I do." EJ interrupted as he made himself known. "I'm still pissed at you, by the way."

"Me?" Mickey scoffed. "What for?"

"None of your fucking business, is it?"

"Oi." Rose shook her head. "Leave it."

They embraced, tightly. It was sort of cute at first, and then it just lasted too long, and EJ started to shift uncomfortably. He didn't know what exactly to do with himself.

"Aw, sweet." Jack cringed. "How come I never get any of that?"

The Doctor looked at him, curiously. "Buy me a drink first."

"You're such hard work."

"But worth it." He grinned, charismatically.

"Come here." EJ sighed, shaking his head as he opened his arms so Jack could have a hug too. "Don't say I don't do anything for you."

Rose's eyes widened as she remembered the reason why Mickey was there. "Did you manage to find it?"

He pulled a passport out of his jacket pocket. "There you go."

With a smile, she turned to the Doctor. "I can go anywhere now!"

"I told you, you don't need a passport!"

She sighed. "It's all very well going to Platform One and Justicia and the... Glass Pyramid of Sancloon, but what if we end up in Brazil? I might need it. You see, I'm prepared for anything."

Disappointed, Mickey sighed. "Sounds like you're staying, then." When he realised that they were all just staring at him, he continued talking so that no one would pay too much attention. "So what are you doing in Cardiff? And who the hell's Jumping Jack Flash? I mean, I don't mind you hanging out with Big Ears up there..."
