I'd agreed to marry Edward because I thought that he would change me. However, a conversation with Alice earlier in the day made me realize that he never plans on changing me. Edward and Jasper had stopped by on their way hunting so that Edward could tell me that he'd see me tomorrow but I couldn't help but get this feeling that I was making a mistake.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed when I heard a tap on my window. I walked over to the window and opened it. It was Emmett. "What are you doing here?" I asked him.

He climbed in the window. "I talked to Alice. She told me about your conversation." Emmett said as I walked back over to my bed and sat down.

"I don't know what to do, Em. He promised me that he would change me but now Alice is telling me that she had a vision where he never does." I said.

Emmett walked over kneeled in front of me. "I told Rose the truth. She's packing to leave. She's decided to join the Volturi." He said. "I told her about the connection that we have and how you'd only said yes to Edward because of his tantrum with the Volturi. She thinks you'd be better off with me."

I sighed. "I've wondered that myself. Em, you know that I care about you right?" I asked him.

He reached up and touched the side of my face. "Oh Nina. I love you. I love you so much." He said.

I grabbed his shirt and pulled him to me. I kissed him with every ounce of feeling that I had. When I pulled back, I looked into Emmett's eyes. "I love you." I said.

He kissed the tip of my nose. "I love you too. Please don't marry him." He said.

I reached up and stroked the side of his face. "Do you trust me?" I asked and he nodded. "Okay. Keep your mind clear from Edward. I promise that everything will be okay." I told him.

The next morning, after eating my last breakfast with Charlie I headed over to the Cullen's house to get ready. Rose and Alice helped me get ready. Alice did my makeup while Rose did my hair. Once I was ready they left me alone to gather my thoughts.

I wasn't sure how long I'd been sitting there alone when Dad poked his head in and told me that it was time. I took his outstretched hand and let him lead me out of the room and down the stairs to the porch where a path led to where the ceremony was being held. "Are you sure about this Nina?" Charlie asked me.

"Trust me Dad." I said with a smile. He nodded.

Charlie led me down the path to where the arch was. Edward and the minister were standing there waiting for me. Edward held his hand out for me and I took it. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Emmett sitting looking rejected. I hoped that he didn't really feel that way. "Marriage isn't something that should be entered into lightly. Edward and Nina have asked you all here today to witness the commitment that they are entering into. Is there anyone that objects?" The minister said.

"I'm sorry. I can't do." I said. Edward looked confused. "Edward, you are a great person and I'm sure that you'll find someone to be your forever, but it's not me. I'm in love with someone else." I said.

"I don't understand." Edward said. He pulled me to the side so that we could talk quietly. "I don't understand. I thought that you wanted to marry me so that I could be the one to change you." He whispered.

"I did. Until I found out that Alice had a vision where you planned to keep putting it off until you finally decided not to change me at all. I found someone who loves me for me and will change me when I want." I whispered.

"Who is it? Is it Jacob? No it can't be him. Who?" He questioned.

"Emmett." I said.

"Emmett? But what about Rose? Their mates." Edward said.

I shook my head. "No their not. Emmett and I discovered a while back that we were mates but I didn't know how to tell you. So Emmett was going to step aside and let me be happy with you but then I talked to Alice. After talking to her I spent the night thinking about my true feelings and I realized that even though I love you... I love him more." I said. "I'm sorry Edward." I told him before I turned and faced everyone. "I'm sorry but there isn't going to be a wedding today. Please feel free to enjoy the food and drink in the reception area." I said before I made my way up the aisle and into the house.

I went up to Alice's room and changed into a pair of blue jean and a t-shirt. When I finished changing, I went downstairs to find my parents. I needed to explain to them what was going on. When I found them they were talking to Emmett. "Hi." I said to the three of them. But before I could say anything else, Charlie held up his hand to stop me.

"Nina, you don't have to say anything. Emmett explained that you guys fell in love and that you couldn't figure out how to tell Edward. I get it. Things happened. I'm just glad that you didn't marry the wrong guy." Charlie said.

"Thanks Dad." I said.

After talking to my parents, Emmett and I made our way outside to talk to Esme and Carlisle. We explained the whole story to them. I told them that I felt ashamed that we didn't figure things out sooner but that I hoped that they'd still accept me as a member of the family. Esme asked about Rose and we told them that she was extremely supportive. Esme seemed shocked by this. It was no secret that Rose and I didn't get along but I think secretly she was in love with Edward but didn't know how to admit her feelings to him. Carlisle seemed understanding by the whole situation.

After speaking with Carlisle and Esme, I found Jake while Emmett was getting something to eat. "Where's the big bear?" He asked me.

"Getting food. He's always hungry." I told him.

"Well at least I like him better than the brooding one." Jake said. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Thanks Jake. It means a lot." I said.

10 Years Later...

Emmett and I have been living in London for the last couple of years while I take some classes for my Master's Degree at Oxford. He found out that he also has a love for literature so he's been spending a lot of time reading, which for him is a shock.

It's hard to believe that we've been together for 10 years. He changed me on our one year anniversary. We'd rented a cabin in the mountains and we'd invited Carlisle along with us for the transformation. Once he was sure that I was okay he'd left to help the family with the move to New York.

Edward finally found his mate and I'd been right...it was with Rose. They've been married for 8 years. They'd decided on a short engagement knowing where it was going to end up. Emmett and I on the other hand didn't see any reason to rush. We have all of eternity.

I was pulled from my thoughts by Emmett walking into our apartment. "Babe you here?" He called out.

"Living room." I said.

Emmett came into the living room and sat beside me on the couch. "So I have a present for you." Emmett said.

"A present? I love presents." I said.

Emmett handed me a small box. I slowly opened it. It was a beautiful engagement ring. "'Em..." I said. "I don't know what to say."

"Say that you'll marry me." He said.

I nodded. "Of course I will." I said, leaning over and kissing him gently.
