"Yeah. Lying to Toby is like lying to the Dalai lama." -Emily Fields

(A/n: sorry that this chapter's so short)

"'Emily, I'm so sorry for everything. I know we've had a disconnect lately. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain. I have to show you something. Don't call my cell. Someone stole it. Meet me at...'" Hanna read. She had found a note from Maya to Emily on her back porch, and they all sat in Emily's room as she read it aloud.

"'Meet me.' Where?" Aria frowned.

"I don't know. I can't tell," Hanna shrugged, staring at the note. "It looks like it's been washed out by the rain."

"Are you sure that this is from Maya?" Spencer asked, turning to Emily.

"Positive," Emily nodded.

"I wonder what she wanted to show you," Isabel muttered sadly.

"I mean, the police have said all along that she probably found something that proved Garrett killed Ali," Aria agreed, looking at Emily specifically.

"Which is why she was killed," Hanna added.

"Okay, you guys, we need to slow down, because we have no idea when Maya wrote that note, and it could have been any time after Emily moved in here with you," Spencer said hastily as Hanna handed Isabel the note.

"It looks like there's a date on the top right corner. Look," Isabel frowned, handing it to Spencer and Emily.

"Oh, my God," Emily realized. "Maya wrote this the day she died."

Later, Isabel and Spencer walked up to Emily outside school, who was re-reading the note Maya had given her.

"How many times have you reread that?" Isabel asked as she and Spencer sat down next to her.

"Too many," Emily sighed, staring off into the distance.

"Didn't you and Maya have a spot that you liked to hang out at by the lake?" Spencer frowned.

"Yeah. I was just there with Nate the other day," Emily nodded, setting down the note.

"Maybe that's where she wanted you to meet her," Isabel shrugged. "We could all go together. We could help you take a look around." Spencer nodded.

"I don't even know what I'm supposed to be looking for," Emily replied. She paused for a second. "Have you heard from Toby?"

"He called last night," Spencer responded. "He's waiting on a permit for the loft, so he took a job in Bucks County. Honestly, I'm relieved. He's not here, I'm not lying to him."

"Yeah. Lying to Toby is like lying to the Dalai lama," Emily agreed.

"I don't how much more of this 'A' I can handle," Isabel muttered, making Spencer sigh.
