The next day, we come back to Reefer Rick's and bring Eddie some food and necessities.
"Jesus!" I hear Eddie shout from inside the shed as Dustin opens the door and we follow him inside.
"Delivery service." Dustin smiles at him as he holds up grocery bags.
Eddie snags the bags from Dustin and takes them into the boat. He sits down and immediately opens the box of Honey Comb cereal, then shoves a handful into his mouth.
"So we got, uh, some good news and some bad news." Dustin says as we huddle around the boat. "How do you prefer?"
"Bad news first, always." Eddie says with a mouthful of cereal and then takes a swig of his YooHoo.
"All right. Bad news. We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro, and they're definitely looking for you. Also, they're, uh, pretty convinced you killed Chrissy."
"Like, 100% kind of convinced." Max confirms.
"And the good news?" Eddie asks Dustin.
"Your name hasn't gone public yet. But if we found out about you, it's a matter of time before others do to. And once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you." Robin tells him.
"Hunt the freak, right?"
"Exactly."
"Shit."
"So, before that happens, we need to find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence." Dustin tells Eddie.
"That's all, Dustin? That's all?"
"Yeah, no, that's pretty much it."
"Yeah, and about that." I begin to say to Dustin. "How am I supposed to kill Vecna, if I can't see Vecna?"
"Uh, I haven't figured that part out yet." Dustin mumbles to me.
"Wait, wait, wait, what do you mean you'll kill him." Eddie says looking up at me.
Shit, we forgot that part last night.
"Uh-"
"Listen, Eddie," Robin cuts me off. "I know everything may sound totally delusional, but we've actually been through this kind of thing before. I mean, they have a... a few times," Robin says as Eddie looks up at me and then to Steve. "and... and I have once. Mine was more human-flesh-based and theirs was more smoke-related, but bottom line is, collectively, I really feel like we got this."
"Okay... That still doesn't really explain how Dani is supposedly going to kill this thing." Eddie says looking to me.
"Danielle has super powers." Steve speaks up for me, causing me to nod my head at Eddie. "See, she was created in Hawkins lab by her father, who was the head scientist. He did like crazy experiments on children... right?" Steve asks me. "Is that right?"
"Yeah, that's right." I say back not taking my eyes off of Eddie and vice versa.
"Anyway, well Danielle can do some crazy shit with her mind and last year we were kidnapped by these Russians and-
"-Russians?" Eddie questions.
"And they gave her this serum which ended up giving her fire powers, so now she can shoot fire out of her hands. It's pretty cool." Steve finishes.
Eddie looks up at me skeptically as Dustin continues, "We sort of rely on Dani's powers because she can actually put up quite the fight with these things."
"However, we're technically still in more of the-" Robin says but stops to find the right words.
"Brainstorming phase." Max says.
