After All This Time

Chapter 37

Panting followed by footsteps were heard from the roofs. Mikey was running as fast as he could with an unconcise person in his arms. He ran until he made it to a familiar alley. He then leapt down from the roof into the alley way, he went straight to the manhole cover and pulled it open. He put the girl in his arms in a better position to go down the ladder, he hooked his nun chuck to one of the steps so he could shut the sewer lid without falling. After the lid was closed, he grabbed his weapon and jumped down from the ladder. Once his feet hit the ground he sprinted off into the dark sewers.

Mikey ran the entire way home. He made it to the turnstiles and broke into a speed walk. Once in the living room his two older brothers noticed him. "Hey Mikey, why are you- Oh shit what happened!" Raph flew off the couch to check over his brother and the unconscious girl. Mikey, still panting, spoke "the foot are aware she knows of our existence. Tiger claw had her, he was going to take her to Shredder! He threw her into the wall when we fought, and now she wont wake up, and I brought her here because I didn't know what else to do!" Mikey finished in a worried panic. Donnie rushed over "Here, let's bring her to my lab." Donnie opened the lab doors as they rushed into the lab.

Thirty minutes passed as Mikey paced the living room. "Mikey I'm sure she's okay, probably just a concussion." Raph tried to ease his brothers worries. "it's not just her, well kind of. But Leo and sensei, will they be mad I brought her here? Should I of brought her here? Will she freak out? Or what if she doesn't remember me!?" Raph stood up and grabbed his brothers' shoulders "Mikey it will be fine, Leo will understand, hopefully." As Mikey was about to reply Donnie walked out of the lab. "Shes fine, few cuts that are old and some bruises, oh and a concussion so when she wakes up, she needs to stay awake for at least twenty-four hours so I can monitor how severe it is. But other than that, she's fine." Mikey let out a sigh of relief and relaxed. "So, who's going to tell Leo and sensei?" Raph said as he looked between the two. "who's going to tell us what? And Mikey why are you here? You're supposed to be gone till early morning." Leo said with a small glare as he walked into the living room. Mikey gulped "well uh, you see...Maddie was attacked by Tiger claw and she got knocked out, so I brought her here..." Mikey fidgeted with his fingers. Leo took a second to process what Mikey told him "YOU DID WHAT!?" Leo looked enraged "so you FOUGHT Tiger claw and DIDNT call us, AND YOU BROUGHT HER HERE!?" Raph was about to step in, but before he could Mikey snapped "WELL WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO!? Let Tiger claw take her? Leave her there in an alley unconscious? Tell me Leo, what should I have done huh fearless leader!" Leo was taken back; Mikey had never snapped at anyone like that, usually he was calm and collected. Leo stumbled with his words. "Well, you should have called us. Tiger claw isn't someone to mess with, you know that!" Mikey crossed his arms over his chest and rolled his eyes "Leo, Tiger claw already had her, if I would have waited for you guys, she would have been with the Shredder by the time you showed up. Then we would have had to break in and try and get her. It was better that I took him on then and there." Mikey stated. Leo searched for something to say, "he's got a point ya know." Raph nudged Leo with his elbow. Leo sighed "yeah I know, fine you can have this one." Mikey gave a proud smile "but next time call us, got it." "Loud and clear" "so not to change the subject but what do we do when she wakes up?" Donnie asked, getting their attention. "Well, we can't just send her home, I mean Shredder is after her now. She will have to stay here like April did." Leo spoke. "of course, we need sensei's permission, and her on board." Leo said with a finger to his chin as he thought his game plan out loud. "Do you think she will freak out? I mean, April did, and Casey." Donnie asked, messing with his hands. "Na, I think she will be fine." Raph reassured Donnie. "She will have to stay on the couch, oh and I'm sure she could learn self-defense with sensei to pass some time, like April did. It will help her in the future." Leo stated. "And sensei may or may not of mentioned he missed teaching." Leo chuckled.

"Shit I ain't that bad at fighting, am I?"
