It is later in the evening and i am in the kitchen washing dishes while Jason is sitting by the counter scrolling through his phone. This are going well for him and he has officially started dating the girl that asked him to call her yesterday. Her name is Carol and they will be going on their first date this weekend. He won't have to worry about dad saying no to him because he hasn't been in the kind of trouble that i have been in.
The whole thing is like a shadow that will never leave me. I have to tiptoe around the house because of it, i am not allowed to go out to parties or have a girlfriend now. You would think that i found guilty when the truth is i was the innocent one.
"What is going on with you?" Jason asks bringing me back to reality
I stare at him, "What do you mean" We don't have a lot of dishes, it was just me so i will be done in a few
"I have been telling you all about my day, this is your new start what is going on with you?" he puts his phone down and keeps his eyes on me
"You know that i am part of the school football now"
"That is the only thing?"
I pull my hands from the sink water and wipe my hands on my sweats, "What do you want me to tell you?"
"That you started making friends, something"
"It's only been two days man"
"I made friends and i even have a girlfriend"
"You don't have a rape charge hanging over your head, i am not even allowed to have a girlfriend because dad doesn't trust me"
We are silent for a few until i decide to break the silence, "Okay i am sorry i shouldn't have said that, if it makes you happy i have been invited to go to a party this weekend"
He smiles, "That is something"
"Yeah but i doubt that dad will let me go, remember the last party that i went to i ended up in jail for the night"
"This is different, plus you didn't do anything, so who invited you?"
I take a deep, "Well this other girl"
"Aww does she like you?"
"She has a boyfriend who happens to hate me. Her brother hates me too"
"Two days and you already have enemies?"
"I think her brother thinks that i want to be the captain of the team"
"You deserve to be captain, you are good" My brother knows me well
"Yeah well Tumo won't be happy about it"
"Do you think that maybe if you win he might try to dig into your past?" That would be the worst thing
"Honestly i don't know"
"Maybe you should just let him be captain so that you are at peace" he suggest
"Yeah maybe"
His phone rings and our conversation is cut short. He makes his way out of the kitchen and i am left to finish washing the dishes.

Dad has offered to drive us to school today. He will be going to work around 2pm. He could be sleeping since he came home late but someone decided to wake up late on purpose so we would get a ride from home.
"So how was day two of school?" Today Jason has taken the front sit so i expect him to answer the question first
"Things are going well for us, i made new friends, Kitso has is a part of the school football team" Oh so he is going to speak for the both of us
"Is that so?" Dad asks
"Yeah" I don't have a lot of words about it
"That is good, when is your first game i would love to come and watch" Dad has always been to all of my games and i know it makes him happy that we have some kind of normal life now
"I think it is sometimes next week, i will confirm with coach"
"That is really good son" He switches to Junior, "Tell me that you also back to playing basket ball?"
"They are starting their practice next week, the court got renovated last week"
My phone buzzes, i pull it from my pocket and i got a message from Tumisang.
Tumie: Hey, i hope you slept well. I was looking forward to hanging out with you before class began but you not here
She wants to get me in trouble
Me: Yeah my little brother woke up late, we are on our way to school now
Tumie: Next time you should leave him behind
Tumie: Joking, i look forward to seeing you
Me: But why
I know why, she has a crush on me or something this is why she can't stay away.
Tumie: I ended things with Aiden
"Kitso have you talked to the school Shrink?" Dad brings me back to reality
"No, i haven't"
"When are you planning to see her?"
I clear my throat, "Today, things have been busy i will make time today"
"Please do"
